Hey, well, despite months of reading topics in the gear talk forum, I dont know much about analog keyboards (Im not sure if the jupiter 8 is analog actually lol)
A friend of my dad is selling a Jupiter 8 (used, but not much) for around 300-400$. is it worth it? I dont really mind what it has, I just wanna know if you'd buy it, if you had the chance.
Thanks!

Fully analog Roland from the early 80s? 300 bucks? Fuck yeah!

Yes, I think that is a good board still.
If it was a Jupiter 8 you would have made a massive profit on it if the thing was working. I think they've gone for $2,500 on ebay before. The title of this thread had me flipping out.
I would love a Jupiter 6 or 8...but I think the only way for me to get one would be to have someone give it away. :p I'd take any analog synth at $300 though, especially a Roland. I don't know anything about the Jupiter 4 but the others in the same line are plenty good, so it can't be too bad. ;)

Cool. It's just that my dad got my hyped up saying it's a Jupiter 8. I was reading stuff and woah, I was so happy. But then he showed me photos and it was obviously a J4.
It was kind of a let down.

So, polysynth.. does that mean no monophonic sounds with portamento? :(

If its got a unison mode you can do that just fine. Im pretty sure the 6 and 8 have unison mode.
