Hello again.
I have another question.

I recently found a software (It is something like a soft synth, but it's for free - called TS-404, can be downloaded from:
http://www.threechords.com/hammerhead/ts-404.shtml
)

Anyway, I thought that I could use my Juno-D keyboard, to control the software.. (I mean, changing effects and stuff in the software, using my PC, and hear the difference in the Juno-D).
So I connected both of them using a MIDI cable (I connected it to the computer with the computer's connection and I took the MIDI in, and connected it into my Juno's MIDI out.).

From some reason, I didn't notice the software and the keyboard were connected.... (Nothing happend when I changed parameters on the software and played my juno-d...)

What seems to be the problem?

Do you have the latest version of DirectX?

Your post seems to say that you're expecting the sound to come out of your Juno - it won't. It'll come out of your PC speakers. Make sure you have the right audio device selected in the properties, make sure it's turned up in volume control, make sure it's receiving on the right MIDI channel. Make sure the Juno is on, sending MIDI, and also set up on the right channel.

That's about all I can think of off the top of my head.

Thank you.. I did excpect the sound to come out of the Juno.. (actually from the headphones I got which connects to the Juno, because the Juno-D doesn't have built in speakers..).

How can I set MIDI channels in the Juno-D and in the PC?(I mean, I know you won't be able to tell me excactly how to it with the Juno, 'cause you probably don't have it...But there's probably a similar procces in all keyboards...)

Ok here's my MIDI setup on the Juno-D (I have one), go to System and go trough the diferent pages, you'll se the fields

Patch Rx Ch: 1
Patch Tx Ch: RxCh
Perform Ctrl Ch: 16
Rx Prog Ch: ON
Rx Bank Sel: ON
Rx Sys Exc: ON
Tx Prog Chg: ON
Tx Bank Sel: ON
Tx Edit Data: ON
Tx Active Sens: ON
Soft Thru: ON
Device ID: 17

With these settings, I can play all the softsynths from my PC with no problem. If this isn't the problem you have to set the MIDI receive channel on the PC. I am using Sonar these days for playing the softsynths, and I set the "MIDI input" to "Omni".

Hope this helps...

I did buy an oasys... but as you know, it sucks..
So I bought A yamaha Dgx 505+Juno D (The DGX is my cool keyboard that shows chrods and stuff, and do all synth syuff, and the juno d is a synth, that the shop owner told me it's the best you can get in the market.... I bet it's better then that oasys junk..)

Are you still serious? Sold the oasys to buy them? Honestly, the Juno D doesn´t sound especially good at all.. and the Dgx doesn´t sound better!:P

Super, just to sum things up:

MIDI stands for 'Musical Instrument Digital Interface', and was originally pioneered by...Bob Moog? I'm not sure about that - someone correct me if i'm not. It's basically a communication protocol for keyboards. For example:

When you press middle A, MIDI doesn't send the audio of your lead patch, it sends the fact that you've just pressed the note 'A' with a velocity (hardness) of an integer between 0 and 127. When you release it, it sends a 'turn off note 'A'' MIDI message. Things like that.

In order to get bits of hardware to communicate (two keyboards, a controller and a rack, a keyboard and a computer, whatever), they both need to be set to the same MIDI channel (Which is any number between 1 and 16). This way, you can have several racks and a PC assigned different MIDI channels, and then you just set your controller to send messages on channel 1 (rack one), 2 (rack 2) or 3 (PC).

The whole MIDI thing is quite complex - I recommend you do a google search, or take a look at Wikipedia's article on it.

To set MIDI channels for your setup, you need to go into something like Options>MIDI on your softsynth, and set that to say '1'. Then you need to look in your Juno's user manual (This should be your BIBLE, btw), under 'MIDI' In there, it will give you a step-by-step guide on how to configure MIDI.

When you get used to it, on the Juno it MAY be possible to set the controllers on it to send MIDI control messages (standard ones include Expression, Sustain, Pan, etc etc). But you could change these (if the softsynth allows it), so that you could say...set the modulation control message to control...the speed of an LFO, or the volume of another oscillator (good for JR-esque feedback layers, or wah effects).

I hope this helps.

By the way, I have NFI what all that Rx, Tx stuff is about.

Not to one of the guys in this forum, if that's what you mean...

I actually met a guy who works in a studio (He's a professional, he got lots of synthesisers...).

Anyway, I poblished an offer for the oasys, and he saw it.
We met, He said that the Oasys is a very sophisticated tool (I actually knew it doesn't... I had it, you know... I knew it's newbie's stuff... It has no rythemes, you can't see what chord youre playing...). So he told me that in synthesisers there is no need for rythmes and all the other things (he called it "arranger's stuff"), and he told me he can find a better use for the Oasys. He gave me a juno-d, for me to realize what is a synthesiser, and also gave me a DGX-505, because this is the kind of keyboard I was looking for.... I bought the Oasys for like 5100$, and he gave me the Juno-D (he said it was like... 3000$) and the dgx - 2500$.. So I think I made a superb deal!!!!!

Well dude. You were ripped off and all I can say is... wtf?! You really gave away the most advanced keyboard for 2 crapola synths (compared to an Oasys) and think you got a superb deal??? Oh man... I don't want to say, but I think I have to: stupidity is thy name :frown: But think about the bad karma the "professional guy with lots of synthesizers" got from screwing you BIG TIME! Oh yes... He'll burn in hell or get stranded on an island with 42 other people and get eaten by a security system.

"It doesn't show the names of the chords you're playing..."
-Hah, those things are cool for little babies who want to brag about how they played a C#m7add13. GET REAL!

"It didn't have any rhythms..."
-Do you mean drumbeats? O rly?

And Juno-D really looks like a 3000$ synth. Aha:

Now, compare it with this: http://www.korg.com/gear/prod_info.asp?a_prod_no=OASYS&category_id=1

I think I would go with the Oasys.

I am not joking.

Oh man.
You got the OASYS for $5,100, right? the OASYS is a $8,499 keyboard, so THAT'S A GREAT DEAL.
If you had sold it for... let's say $7,000 still you had extracted enough cash to buy 3 Juno-D's ($600), 2 DGX's ($800) and a Mac G5.
But you wanted a board that shows chords and plays drumbeats...

I still don't believe it... I think this guy just wants attention. This must be a joke.

If it's not, the guy you gave it to must be the happiest guy alive. Ever. And you have much too much money to splash around without thinking what you're spending it on.
