Hi guys, Welcome to the Show Off forum.

While we are excited to offer this area for people to gain feedback and comments on their music, we understand that not everyone has bandwidth to host their files. This is where YOU come in.

If anyone has spare bandwidth that they can lend to people who may not have space to host their files, could you please post here and let people know where they can contact you about hosting a song or two for them?

This section will take a good amount of community cooperation to work well, so I hope some friendly forumers out there will help out :)

Thanks guys and enjoy!

I have quite a bit webspace left, but I have an ISDN connection and no flat rate, so I hope that you understand that I'd only like to upload files that are not bigger than 3MB. :)
If you got something for me: webmaster@jordanrudess.de
PLEASE give the email a title like "webspace" or something, because I get much infected spam lately.

I'm also available for file hosting within reason. Generally I will remove an mp3 after a month or so of hosting, or whenever the thread has fallen into obscurity.

If you don't have a place to host your own mp3s and would like one, check out http://www.soundclick.com. Just like mp3.com used to be, it's a community for musicians as well as a host provider. It's free to sign up, but there are limitations to the free accounts. You're only allowed up to 128k bitrate encoding on your mp3s, and you're only allowed up to 10mb of file size per song. however, you can have unlimited songs up there. If you pay for a VIP account, those limitations become 320k encoding and 40mb file size per song.

Since the demise of mp3.com, and since I have no desire to deal with the headaches of running my own webserver, I made Soundclick the new home for my music. Granted, these days I'm not doing all -that- much with it, but I like having songs up there to share with people. I only have a free account there, but I like the advantages they give you with a VIP account, and if my own music becomes anything more than a hobby, I'll gladly upgrade.. but for now, the only annoyances you have to deal with are occasional pop-up ads, and I've got a pop-up stopper :)

My site is at http://www.soundclick.com/tigerfolly/, so feel free to check it out, and feel free to drop me a line if you have any questions about Soundclick.

my problem w/ soundclick.com (and mp3.com when it was around) is that you have to go the site, sign in, blah blah...too much work and i'm not about to go through to hear a song (and i bet the average user isn't). i know it sucks to have to pay for webspace and so on, but i think the amount of people who will download your music will be much higher w/ a direct link.

it's like if you go to band's website and you have to go to soundclick.com to hear their stuff...it really gets on my nerves to have to do that, so i just end up not listening to it...which is sad because it might be something i'd like...

i guess you could say that this is an arrogant or elitist type opinion, but i sorta think it holds true a lot of the time...the problem with those websites is having to sign in to download a song...c'mon...that's just a nuisance.

sorry--didn't mean to go off on that...i know it is the only some people can put their music online, but those sites really bother me...no offense meant

I've got a couple of gigabytes free at the moment, from what I remember... I do however struggle to upload anything larger than about 20Mb in a single chunk... I can set up FTP accounts for people though if they can upload the stuff themselves. PM me or email me at martin@martincliffe.com if you want me to host for you :)

Garageband.com is the largest community for free mp3 music on the web ever since mp3.com shut down. You do have to either pay or give reviews of other people's work in order to get space (you can pay though if you're lazy).

The chart system they have up is pretty much foolproof and quite effective. You just choose a genre and they give you 2 songs to listen to without giving away any info on who's playing, name of the song, etc. You have to listen to at least 30 seconds of the RP stream for each song and then you rate the songs on several factors and choose which one you liked best.

If anyone still needs hosting I can donate some. Just send me a PM.

I have space as well! I might also be restrictive about files larger than, say, 3-4 Mb though...

Oh, another thing. Please consider the option of running a small webserver on your own computer as well, if you keep it on for most of the time and have decent upload speed. There are several different available at for example download.com (http://www.download.com). Just make a search on web servers... They are fairly easy to setup.

You spanish-speakers/readers... www.hispasonic.com also hosts 10 mp3 free with your account... fast and also a great community of musicians. They're moving the site these days, try since Monday.

Best regards,

Didn't read the whole thread, but if anybody needs it, I have plenty of space and bandwidth. So if you need it, I'll host it. Unfortunately I don't use any messanging service, so you'll have to contact me through either email or my forum.

Email: kunal@ktriton.com
