First of all, sorry to post a "what synth should i buy" topic. :frown: But I do some research, try the synth I want, etc. And still, I cant make up my mind...
I want to record electronic stuff (like Chroma Key, Televon Tel Aviv,etc,...ambient, techno-ish sound) , so I really - really need synth with wide range of drum sound, and (of course) wide range of sound pallete... (I don't really care about it's piano, string, etc... I rarely use acoustic sound though, plus, even if I need that, I already have my Roland XP-30)
A lot of friends told me to buy Reason 3.0, but I'm not into soft-synth, playing the real thing is much pleasure  or maybe Roland MC series or Korg Electribe series are just perfect for me (?)
And about my budget...I dont have much, Korg TR 76, or maybe Roland Juno-G (?), and any other synth within that price range is all I can afford. And it's hard to search second hand gears here  and I cant buy things online (no credit card, etc).
So..any sugesstion?
Thx before. :)
The Korgs have a load of drums, i know that much, but i cant say how good etc, since i havent played one. But generally korg is a good go for techno.

if you want to do electronic stuff, forget a rompler. Go, instead, for some good VA such as Roland JP8080, Clavia Nord Lead/Nord Modular, Access Virus and so on. If you like stuff such as Telefon Tel Aviv, keep in mind that they uses software synths extensively.. like Reaktor, Absynth and so on.
Cheers,

Okay...
So VA is good for techno right :) Yup I'm agree. I've tried MS2000 (?) and MicroKorg. And also Alesis Ion. Never touch any Clavia yet, maybe this week I'll try it... :)
But I need drum sound too. Is it better to get the drum sound from software then?
Is there any VA with built in sequencer?
BTW, Clavia's price makes make wanna cry... :(

i suggest you to get a software sampler and good TR808/909 samples ;) It's easier and cheaper.

@ Egens : not a good choice for me. I need a techno-ish sound, analog synth, etc. For ROMpler synth, I already have a XP-30 (that in my opinion, as powerful as Juno - D. It has a lot of sound...really" a lot if sound... )
I've find a store that sell Clavia product, I'll try it next week. I'm interested in Clavia Nord Lead 2. Yup...rather pricey, but hey...it's sound good :)
Anybody have MicroKorg, MS2000B, Roland SH-201? Is it good?

I've got an MS2000BR (rack version)... it's wonderful. It's not warm like a Moog, but it's very ballzy, brash, and powerful. It's also fairly easy to program and fiddle with to make some really dark electronic sounds. It's very European sounding to my ears. Fit in very well with my Industrial band. The resonant filters can get really harsh too (in a good way). Plus, it's got a built in distortion (it's own dedicated button) that can make any patch come alive. Probably the best distortion I've ever heard from any VA synth (though some of the effects on my new Fusion might be giving it a run for it's money). It's the same engine as the MicroKorg, but that's so cut down (plus, has that stupid tiny keyboard). I haven't played the Roland SH-201, so I won't comment on that. All I know is that you can't go wrong with the MS2000B.

yes..that's tiny keyboard was a shame :( ...so cut down? i what section? The MS2000B cost twice than MicroKorg here :( So if there are no big difference I'll take the MicroKorg and save the rest of my money for another gear
Will try Nord Lead 2x and also Access Polar this week (even I dont have any money to buy it  coriousity... )

Man I wish there was a Guitar Center in PR....
I've only tried one Clavia product, and one access product, both in Australia. Clavia's sound is awesome, and access sound is extremely good as well.

Don't forget of trying some Waldorf synths... they're on the digital side of VAs but they're very warm and they can kick some serius ass!!!
(I'm an happy owner of a Waldorf Q Rack  )

How's Alesis Fusion? It has VA, physical modelling, sample, etc. How's the VA section compared to Clavia?

If you can afford an fusion... buy it!!! it's far more than a simple VA... it's has the sample, the HD... the FM section is great!!! The only thing that it's not so good is the reverb effect, but you can live with it... and I think they'lle improve it in the future. The VA section is good, it has its own character, it's not a Nord... it can do some unique sound i think becouse it has some filters you can't find on the nord like the formant filter and it has 3 osc instead of the 2 or the nord... another cool feature is the high number of LFO and envelope you can add to an sound (if you need another envelope or LFO you simply have to create it... )

@ ReaPeR : oh no...the Fusion is far beyond my budget :frown: I think I have to make up my mind to buy a VA only, not a workstation...I have my XP-30 for my bread and butter sound, quite good IMHO.
@ Staccato : ...I dont find any different beteween those two synth (MS2000 and MS2000B). Now, I'm interested in MicroKorg, because the price. But I hate those tiny keys
The MS2000B. In 2004, Korg introduced a renewed version of the MS2000, the MS2000B. Some improvements were made over the original model, being the inclusion of a front panel mic input, and better factory presets. The synth's metallic painting was changed to dark grey/black, hence the 'B' on the name. Sadly, no other real improvements were made.

Thank you, I'll try too search for used gear, well, it's kinda hard to find, cos it's very rare here...
I think I'm already in love with Nord Lead 2x  still, i want to try another...
