Hello,
I have a Motif ES and I'll probably buy a korg oasys 88 soon to replace the Motif, but I would like to know if there is a way to organise the programs and combis in order like in the master mode in the Motif ?

If not, how does JR do to have all his sounds in order and to load all the differents setups in order for a specific song rapidly ?

Thanks

Dave

it's actually pretty simple: when you hit save, it'll ask you where you want to save it. So, what you could do is use the g or H banks as your user backup banks, and edit files there.
Then, when you save them, save them into the next available position. You could do that per song and then save each song to the hard drive or media card.

Then when it comes to playing, all you have to do is load each song in the order of the setlist you're playing that night.

Go with two rackmounted PCs (one live and one backup), a 12 inch touchscreen monitor and softsynths (for the price of the Oasys)

Oasys is pretty expensive, if you ask me.
8000 euro for what? LCD screen - cool, Hard Drive - cool, onboard CD-burner, wich will die really fast, cool. 85 kg to carry around - cool. You'll probably need 3 people to lift this monster up. For me, a workstation can't be more than 3000 euro.

With 8000 euro you can buy like... a whole studio, with like.... LCD's and like... computers, racks, amps etc.

You forget the massive amount of expandability, and the huge amount of synthesis options cobbled together into one powerhorse.

Although i'd probably gig with a laptop and a few softsynths :P

onboard CD-burner, wich will die really fast,

That's not a fair statement to make - just because it's possible previous versions *Trition Studio* had an issue *which I don't think it did* doesn't mean it'll die, so I don't think that's a fair judgement to make.

I think every musicians have their own way to work and to create. What is important is the final result, not the way you work or which gear you are using.

I think people who say "don't buy a oasys its too expensive, you can have a good computer, plugins, LCDs, a new car, a big house... for the same price and blablabla..." are only thinking about themselves. If you don't like this keyboard or its not the way you like to work, great, don't buy it, but don't come to say to other its not good and it don't worth the price. (I'm not saying it to a particular person, just people in general who say that about the Oasys.)

YES, it really worth the price *for certain people*, and NO, it doesnt worth the price at all *for other people who don't like to create or play music that way.*

I've played the Oasys at a music shop for many hours now, and I can say it's miles away from my Motif, and ithe board can do exactly what I need, so I'm probably gonna pay for the 7500$. And I also think you can't do exactly the same thing with a computer and few plugins and a new dog and a new car and whatever.

Just my 2 cents.

Dave

p.s. If you look at things that way, you can also say that a Motif es8 dont worth the price at all, in fact, it's just a bunch of wires and plugs and buttons and metal panels... maybe you can have all that for less than 100$ lol

If I remember the things I saw on the videos of the Oasys.. you can edit all timbres in programs and so on, without changing the original values.. so you will probably just use combinations.. but that´s your decision.. if I could afford it, I would buy an Oasys directly.. go for it man, and good luck! (And if you are selling your Motif ES for 100 bucks, please tell me:D)

I'm not sure about this but is it the same thing as in the Motif ? Cause in performance mode you can also modify the values and filter, tone, EQ, etc. without changing the original voices?

I´m not sure.. just seen some videos of the Oasys.. and haven´t tried the Motif ES.. but is sounds like it´s the same.. but from the videos I saw.. you can practically change between programs in one combination using sliders and stuff.. seems like you got full control from that screen all the time!:)
