So, I've been thinking of getting myself a new keyboard. Atm I'm using a Kurzweil PC2 and a Access Virus TI. I mainly use them live, I have quite a few bands, all a bit different in genre. The Kurzweil is great, I love it, but it's starting to show it's weaknesses: Only 16 user programmable midi-presets, and only 4 sounds (layers/splits) in each. It just lacks sounds, I can't get all the sounds out of it that I want. Of course the Virus has presets with 16 parts, but that doesn't quite suffice. Also I hate always setting up loads of wires every time I rehearse with a band. So, I've been looking for what to buy. It should have everything I need :) Price isn't necessarily a problem as I'll be selling my old gear if I get a synth good enough. The keyboard should have 88 keys (I hate synth/semi-weighted action being a pianist myself, I've already broken half of the keys of the kurz because they're too light :S). There is of course the problem that I can't fit a 88-key synth in my good ole' BMW properly, but that doesn't really matter.
So, what it must have:
-88-keys (76 will suffice but I'd more rather get a proper hammer-action keyboard)
-Sufficient polyphony (doesn't have to be over 50-60, I guess)
-a GOOD piano sound
-good leads and pads and all kinds of sounds :D can be programmable, I'll learn ;)
-maybe a sequencer for studio use, though I have managed without this far
-Many, I mean many presets to program
-atleast 8, preferrably 16 parts for each preset
-controllers for live use and enough pedal jacks
(-good looks ;))
-I would think every modern keyboard can do it, but if not: no 'gap' or muting sounds when switching presets
Ideas, suggestions, everything is welcome :)
(btw, any other gospel-musicians here? ;))
