OK i dont mean the actual sound, because i know that has been done lots of times before. i mean in terms of controllers etc. myself have a korg triton extreme, and i know that JR has switched to a Korg too (the oasys) so i was wondering how he does his usual stuff. Firstly, what is his joystick set to? And how does he still create wah? How does he bring in the harmonics that he used to do by pushing up the mod wheel on the k2600 (to make it sound like it is doubled with the octave below)? Does he still do vibrato using the pitch wheel carefully (as in moving left and right on a korg joystick. because ive tried this and its not easy). which brings me to a question? is it posible to do a convincing manual vibrato with the 'pitch bend' function on a korg joystick (moving left and right). mine is sounding very good at the moment but i will practice at it if i know it is possible at all. any answers/advice to any of the questions would be appreciated. Cheers
pete

I believe that his pitch joystick is normally set +2/-12/24, since the OASYS doesn't have a ribbon on it. Aftertouch, if I remember rightly, plays a large part in the 'wah', which is a resonance effect on the main voice with some saw waves added by increasing their volume during aftertouch.

I've been practicing natural vibrato on my VA-7's joystick, and I don't have that much trouble with it - it's kinda like trilling with your left hand :P

Hope this helps - if there are any errors, please feel free to correct me.

i cant correct you i have no idea :P that sounds pretty right though. i never thought his wah was from aftertouch. interesting. what about the 'harmonics' as he calls it on his dvd, where he like brings in the lower octave
thanks

Well he had an expression pedal for wah before, I don't know if he kept that or not. I think he would. If not, then I would imagine he uses that Korg joystick for the wah, either +y or -y, and the other one might work with feedback/some other layers...who knows. Something like the way the monster lead is set up.

Actually, the Oasys does have a ribbon. It's pretty much the same as what's on the Triton Extreme/Studio...nothing like Kurz's though.

Oops - my mistake.

I'm fairly certain that Jordan uses Aftertouch for the feedback layer, not the wah.. I'd assume the Ribbon is used for divebombs, pitch stick is -12/+2 and wah is controlled by an exp pedal?

Second that. He still uses Ernie Ball pedals for the wah.
