Wow lucky you! is it your first synth? If it is do heaps of reading up on it before it gets to you so you don't have to waste time working it out when it gets there. Good luck with the wait, the next few weeks will go painfully slow for you!

Gratz, how many keys?
I think Korg Triton Extreme is the best workstation, but personally I don't like how it looks, not my style.
Roland keyboards look cool, but Korg is more flexible, that's for sure.
Btw - where did you order it and where do you live? As a matter of fact, I'm looking for a good online store.

I ordered it from Music123.com. I was going to get a K2600x but I am glad I didn't the extreme has everything that I want in a keboard, plus if want some more sounds I can get rackmount modules. If you call music123 you get better deals.

That`s ok dude, but you know cause this is a keyboard forum we want to learn as much as we can from eachother, so if you say something like that it can confuse some guys that doesnīt know which keyboard to buy. I know your intentions were good, so no offense meant ;-). Donīt want to be a wanna-be-mod here, just wanted to know as Omega Monkey your point of view

Gentleman, I love my Fantomx8 so much I decided to cancel the Extreme. I was playing it and it has all the sounds I want plus EXP's. I did a huge comparison. I went to Sweetwater.com comparison chart and the Fantom is just as much keyboard as the Oasys for less the price. Don't get me wrong the Oasys is an impressive keyboard with open architecture but why spend over $8,000 when you can come very close to it with the Fantomx plus you can expand it even further. So I am sticking with Roland.

Hey, if you already paid for it, why don't you send it to my address? I'd be very happy.

Cheers,
Jure

Wait, you had a Fantom X and you were going to trade it for an Extreme? You definitely made the right choice sticking with what you had! The only thing the Extreme has that the Fantom doesnt is the tube, which you could just spend $200 or so on a stereo tube preamp and have the same effect basically. The Fantom on the other hand has all kinds of stuff that the Extreme doesnt like the D-Beam, piano mode (which rocks), the sample pads, sample back (or whatever its called where you can listen back to what you just played), etc... Im pretty sure its got a bigger wave rom as well.

Yeah I have some good boards. I wasn't going to trade the roland I just wanted to add a new board to my arsenal. But I think the Fantom X has enough. Does anybody have any experience with V-synth?

I think thatīs the way to go, if you want to expand your rig, you should add synths with features that your Fantom doesnīt have, or are more specialized in, such as a VA, or a Hammond clone, or a modular like the Nord, not another workstation like the Extreme.

Yeah, I agree with that. If you really wanted another workstation (for layering, etc...) I would have gone with the Motif ES rack and loaded it up with PLG cards. That way you have 2 workstations full of sounds, plus maybe a VA and an FM synth as well plus maybe one other (piano/keyboard card/VL/whatever) thing.

But overall, I would probably suggest some "different" synth, like a dedicated VA or FM, the V Synth, a clonewheel, or something like that, depending on what kind of music you want to do, and what other equipment you might already have. Hell, for the price of the extreme, you could get a Nord Lead 2X (VA) and a Yamaha TG77 (PCM/FM) and probably still have some left over, plus have a lot more options than with just adding the Extreme. Maybe use the extra to get a nice rack effects module.

That sounds good, Thanks for the help! What about the Triton rack, would I get the same sounds that are in the extreme?

Well, yeah, but you already have a badass workstation, so it would be kind of pointless (unless you were going to put a MOSS board in it, if you can do that, in which case a Z1 would be cheaper/better anyway). A MOTIF ES rack at least you would have the PLG stuff if nothing else. But I think you should explore as many avenues as possible before you commit to anything. Blowing a lot of money before you really know what you want is a sure recipe for buyers remorse.
