just got this DVD in the mail today! it's reaaaaaallly awesome! i watched the main concert, the MP interview, the rehearsal footage, and as i type this i'm watching the bonus tracks...all fantastic. (although the footage from the bonus songs isn't as nice quality as the rest of the DVD, but still good!)
probably the coolest part is watching jordan play "On the Run"...he starts fiddling with the modular's knobs and patch cables...hehe, very cool...and you can watch him trigger samples, too!
definitely worth the wait and money!

heh, you know I forgot all about that until last saturday, so I'm gonna have to wait a little bit. Looking forward to it.

I have to admit, part of me really wants to hear Jordan playing the intro to The Great Gig in the Sky. I'm increasingly of the opinion that it might actually be one of the best pieces of music composed in the last century; there's something just incredibly hypnotic and moving about it, despite the fact that there's so little going on. It's like a modern day version of the Adagio from the Moonlight Sonata (or for that matter, the Barber Adagio for Strings, although obviously reasonable people can disagree about Floyd, while anyone who doesn't get choked up by the Barber piece is dead inside, period): just this really simply series of changes, so little going on on paper, but to such strong effect. Really just a wonderful piece of music. I get very emotional about it.

i was there too
the dvd doesn't make "been there" any justice.
i feel the dvd could of beeb better in terms of picture quality, but then again, its not a full commercial release and not filmed with huge expensive cameras..at least i didn't see any there.
anyway..still awesome though!

i thought the DVD's footage was pretty decent, except they couldn't seem to get a good picture of James' face a lot of times...they'd just get this blurry shot where his face looked washed out from the stage lights. but, yeah, it is a "bootleg"! still a lot of good footage
i bet the whole mood was insanely cool if you were there...

How is the audio quality and the mix?

mix and audio quality are everything i wanted them to be--sounds really big and accurate

I was quite surprised at how much it sounds like the original actually! The extra disc on the CD is great too. I had no idea they had played One of These Days, so hearing that was cool. If i can get my hands on a 5.1 setup, I'll make a surround mix using the official one and my bootleg (which was for personal use before you ask ;) ), so that's something to do over the summer...

The CD was absolutely amazing but the dvd to my eyes looks like it was filmed in PAL and converted to NTSC.
