Just thought i'd let you guys know i bought a KDFX unit for my K2500 and fitted it myself this weekend. I was warned NOT to do the installation myself, but to be honest it was pretty straightforward if you've ever upgraded your pc before, although i must qualify this by saying mine is one of the latter K2500 and so certain install steps didn't need to be done (like splicing the power cable).

Anyway, haven't had much time to play, but this option makes a huge difference to sound. I would highly recommend this for anyone with a K2500.

OMG I totally agree. It was like night and day
when I went from the Digitech reverb to the
KDFX's. Very clean, pristine and authentic
sounding.

I have a K2500XS with the piano sample board. I mostly use the piano patches. I've toyed with the idea of getting KDFX, but have pretty much decided to use the money towards something else (ie; a second Mackie SRM450, Footswitchs and expression pedals). For the piano patches, how much difference does it make?

Curious, John.

Can someone send me a MIDI file & a recording of that MIDI file played on a Kurz K2500 with KDFX.

Thanks, John.

How can you tell if your Kurz 2500 is one of the "newer" ones that doesn't require splicing to install the KDFX option? Can you tell without opening it?

You can tell by your serial number. If it's a newer board it will have a Z at the 7 digit (i think it's 7).

Use your ears! :D It's very very obvious. A k2500 without KDFX sounds bald and flat. Unless the owner has a nickname on the JR forum, which is Enigma. Than you'd have the most amazing sound! 8)

It's built in on the K2600, but an option on the K2500.
