Without going into too much detail (I promised myself and my family some rest and time away from the computer), I have to THANK all of you in attendance last night at Radio City Music Hall for helping to make last night's show one of the most incredible evenings of my life.

Of the hundreds of shows (maybe thousands at this point?) that we've done through the years, never before have I been moved on stage as much as I was last night.
There were several points in the night where I was literally brought to tears by the power and emotion in the air.

I just wanted to thank our AMAZING fans from all over the world that helped make last night so electric and magical from start to finish....you guys were the ULTIMATE audience last night!

We always dreamed of playing with an Orchestra one day and last night's performance surpassed my wildest expectations.
Jamshied Sharifi (our beloved arranger & conductor) and the incredible musicians behind us rose to the occasion and lifted our music to a whole new orgasmic level.

I cannot wait to share this evening with all of you that weren't able to attend via the upcoming DVD and CD sets that I will be working on in the coming months.
(No rest for the wicked...or at least me!)

I truly believe last night was the PINNACLE of our 20 year career thus far and an incredible ending to the latest chapter in DT history.
How the hell will we top it???????????

Give me some time, and I'll think of something!

There's a full ver of Metropolis on the When Dream and Day Reunite DVD, with Derek sitting in on keys.. definitely one of the best performances of the song to date - there's a 3-way solo battle between Derek, John, and Jordan that goes on for about 4 or 5 minutes ;).

that moment made me wish that both Derek and Jordan were in the band. That was a totally awesome performance.

Now THAT was FUCKIN SPECIAL! Seriously that is the coolest DT vid I have ever seen. Why didnt they do more stuff like that in NY? With Derek and Charlie jamming with the guys Metropolis (already one of their best songs) was taken to a whole new level. I wouldnt mind if they brought either or both of them back as permanent (or even temporary) members. I think especially Derek would bring a certain rock edge and showmanship to the band (or more accurately kick it up a notch). Plus, he and Jordan could play each other and work together to fill out the sound more. Jordan wouldnt have to work as hard and they could do freakier stuff keys-wise.

I know it will never happen, but it sure would be cool once in a while. Hell, DT have a shitload of musical friends, they should just start regularly inviting some of them to sit in. Maybe 1 or 2 guys (or girls) all tour, maybe a new person every few stops or every stop or whatever.

Im thinking guys like Morse/Morgenstein, Derek, Neal, Roine, T-Lev, the Kings X guys, etc... It would make it that much easier if they had like the Dregs, or FK, or whoever opening for them.

I'd just like to see DT "loosen up" a bit. They always seem so calculated and planned out. I'd like to see them try an almost jam band type ethos for a while, just to see what happens. Maybe completely rearrange some of the older songs (like an acoustic version of PMU with a small string section). I would also like to see a more organic side of them. Octavarium kind of gave a glimpse of that, but after Vacant what I was really hoping for is some full on Paul Winter/Oregon type shit, since I know Jordan played with Paul Winter in the past (which is how Eugene Friesen ended up on the album).

I think 20 years is a perfect time for DT to choose a new doorway to walk through, a new beginning. Alot of bands after 20 years are either broken up or just a shell of what they once were. But I see in DT the potential to be a viable creative and performing unit for many years to come, as long as they are willing to open themselves up to new experiences and challenges, and to be receptive to inspiration from "unusual" sources. I think renewal and change is a vital part of being in any long term relationship. You have to keep things fresh and vibrant.

Hopefully Jordan will see this and reflect on it with the other guys in the band.

Honestly, if you take their writing process into consideration, I think they are very much a jam band...
