WHY WEREN'T YOU STANDING??????

as soon as the show started, my friend and I stood up to enjoy rocking out to the music. After a song, the usher came over and told us that we couldn't stand if no one else in the section was standing, since it would block people's view. We were told if we wanted to stand and move to the music, we had to move to the back of the section. I did that because there's NO WAY I can enjoy a DT show sitting down. All I'm wondering is who were these people who could watch a Dream Theater show with the same enthusiasm as they would watch a weather report?

On the plus side, the show was amazing, RAISE THE KNIFE!!, LEARNING TO LIVE, TAKE THE TIME, all songs I have waited a long time to hear. And Octavarium did not disappoint! Well done Jordan and the rest of DT, amazing show!

Sitting does not = not excited.

Standing does not = excited.

This is true, but I have noticed that every time I see dt, the audience are rather frigid compared to other rock and metal show. I know a lot of people (including myself at times) just like to sit back and analyze and watch and enjoy, but there are times when the energy is so high, yet the crowd seems not to all be reacting as most do at a metal show. I feel almost foolish headbanging during heavy parts because noone around me is doing so.

Maybe I'm just used to the general admission shows in DC at the 930 club like they had on the past evening with tours...where full fledged mosh pits have erupted in Honor Thy Father and Pull me Under.
