Hi,

I've been trying to learn how to edit/create sounds.
I thought a good place to start would to be to try and reproduce a sound that Jordan uses during TGD.
It's simply the part where the band plays in unison - although his keyboard part is much more evident when they play live. It's the main riff (E-D-E-D-F-E-D...etc).
I thought his patch was really cool live - I don't know if I can explain this properly - but as the riff went on the sound would kind of oscilate (hopefully that's the right word!). Sounded kind of like a wave ascending and descending.

I was wondering if anyone knows what I'm talking about? Or what this is called that he is doing? Is it "LFO" that I hear so much about?

Any replies would be appreciated.

Thanks!

It might be an LFO-bound parameter. I can't recognize the exact patch, tell me the minute when the sound starts and I'll try to guess IMHO how it's done.

It's as soon as the band plays in unison together after the intro with all the samples. Actually, I shouldn't say unison - it sounds like Jordan is playing something different - but the same pattern anyways.
I've heard some people say it reminds them of Natural Science by Rush.
I would tell you the time but I don't have the CD on me right now.

Yeah you could likely recreate that by modulating the filter cutoff with the LFO... or you can cheat like me and throw a flanger effect on it :)

Ok, well, I'll look up those words and see if I can figure out how to do what you're talking about! (I'm totally new at this!)
