Sorry to post this! But I'm quite excited.
I recently found a guy from Colorado who was selling his Fantom S88 - and I picked it up. Got it with a great case and a stand too.

It's been nice to get back into playing again - I've played piano since I was 6 - but since I got married we haven't had the $$ or space for anything!

I know I haven't even scratched the surface with this thing yet - but I'm excited to get into it.

Actually - I do need some advice. Once I get my chops back and have a little more time on my hands - I really want to get into sound editting/creation (whatever you call it!) - but I really have NO idea where to even start. I thought I'd start doing some research on the web to see what's out there.
Also, I'm a computer programmer - so I would like to mix the two fields somehow, so if anyone has any suggestions for me it would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks!

jack, synthguy has written a great primer on sound shaping and design at the ProgSounds board. It's a great starter read. The board can be found here (http://www.albertorizzoschettino.com/~progsounds/), and registration is required for viewing.

I think one of the best ways to fuse your music and your computer skills would be to get involved with website design/creation and composing music for the sites that you create. A lot of my friends have asked me to make music intro's and effects etc for their sites which I have done, but this can be done on a bigger scale and have it as a little side line. I am also a longtime keyboardist and make my living as a computer analayst/programmer. Don't know what languages you program, but I am getting into XML, Java to help my web designing as well.

That's a good suggestion - however I don't feel something like that would really mix the two skills. To me, creating web pages isn't really programming (yes, I know HTML, JavaScript, PHP, SQL etc...), and attaching a song to a web page wouldn't be too big of a deal really.

I was thinking more along the lines of applications - but please don't take this the wrong way! I appreciate all the suggestions I get!

BTW, the languages I know are mainly Java and C#.

I love the piano samples. Can you use it as a control surface too?

Hey Jack,

Congrats on the new board! Thats a nice one.

Check out the gear FAQ, I have a XV88 FAQ there that might have some tips that you could apply to your board.

Also there is a Turbo start guide and I think there is a video guide on Rolands web site.
