So I work at Barnes & Nobles and one of my customers the other day mentioned Siberian Throat Music... has anyone had any exposure to this music? If so could you provide some informative links or artist recommendations or explain what this is?

it's a way that some monks and other people who practice this art are able to basically sing more than one pitch at a time (up to 3 at once, i think). it sounds really bizarre.
the only place i've ever heard it or seen it is on the Bela Fleck & the Flecktone's DVD, Live at the Quick. They have a guy come on who can do it, and it's pretty nuts.

Wow, I thought of that once, but I didn't think it was possible.

i found some videos of tibetan monks performing it at some festival:

it's one of the most unusual-sounding techniques you'll probably ever hear.

Unusual is right!!
It's certainly... different... I don't know that it's to my liking though...
Edit: thanks for the link

yeah, from what I understand, it happens basically because calouses grow on your vocal chords, which allow different parts of it to resonate at different frequencies. It sounds really cool, but from what I've read, it pretty much slowly destroys your voice over time. The Tibetans do it, too.
