Doing something dumb

Hello everyone,

I am having a dance party in a large room in my dorm. I have a Acoustic Authority 5.1 System with a sub and it gets decently loud, but not loud enough to have a rediculous dance party. I want this shit to bump.

I own a Yorkville 400 watt stack, the cab has a 15' sub with 2 10's and a horn. I was thinking about running an instrument cable out of 1/4" headphone output from my soundcard into the stack.

I know you generally aren't supposed to do things like this, but if I back off the highs all the way on the head, turn the mids down low and only use the low end, will that be alright? Will it cause damage? Any ideas on what setting to put the EQ on?

Well, you would be better off using a line out as opposed to a headphone output, which is a completely different kind of signal basically.

But other than that it shouldnt cause any "problems" other than probably sounding like complete shit. Your best bet is to charge a small cover for this party and rent a PA.
