Friends: here's a link to a very nice article about my music and new website in a German new music magazine, if you're interested in what I do outside the office:

Mouvement Nouveau Article (http://www.mouvement-nouveau.com/newsitems/thesefirstdays/view)

They've also started a new record label and have announced that they want to release some of my work on an initial compilation, and possibly future releases as well:

Ex Ovo Records (http://www.exovo.org)

All this came about because one of the principals came across my recently-updated site, checked it out, and contacted me. Which just goes to show that for people doing creative work, having a personal site and keeping it current can be beneficial.

Very nice article. Congrats on the future cd release! Is there a chance that we might see a "Richard Lainhart, LIVE AT THE BUDOKAN" DVD sometime in the future? He He! :)

OT: Richard, I always wanted to know if you and Jordan being next door neighbors was a random occurrence? It must be very cool to exchange musical idea's with each other. :)

Thanks! As for the upcoming release, one thing that's unclear to me, and that I need to find out from them, is if it's actually a CD - they talk about a "vinyl compilation", and I don't know if that means a comp of stuff originally released on vinyl or an actual vinyl record. If they release it on vinyl, that'll be pretty weird - nobody I know, including myself, will be able to play it. It's hard to believe they'd release vinyl in this day and age, but you never know....

Moving in next door to the Rudesses was completely random. My wife and I were living in Manhattan, and wanted to get out of the city. We looked all over upstate, and only came upon the house next door to them through a real estate agent, and only after the house had been on the market for a while, removed, and brought back on the market. It was purely happenstance that we bought the place.

I knew Jordan's name already, because I was familiar with some of the sounds he'd programmed for Korg back in the 80s, but I only knew of him as a sound designer, not aa a player. When we bought the place and met Danielle, Jordan's wife, she mentioned that Jordan was just about to join a famous band but that it was still a secret and that we couldn't talk about it. "No problem", I said - I'd never heard of Dream Theater.

Richard - congratulations on the press. Excellent article, the reviewer really took time to listen to your work and also to discuss your background. Very impressive - I'll have to pick up a copy of the CD.

Great story! We should all be so lucky!

Unfortunately, my next door neighboor is a bizarre out-of-work shrink! When I come home late at night from gigs I can see him pacing in his basement angrily waving a baseball bat!

Thank you - it's very kind of you to say so. By the way, Mouvement Nouveau has just published a lengthy interview with me here:

15 Questions (http://www.mouvement-nouveau.com/magazine/15questions/15questionsrichardlainhart)

Also, as i mentioned above, Mouvement Nouveau's record label, Ex Ovo, will be releasing a revised version of one of my early electronic works on the compilation album “I, MUTE HUMMINGS” sometime this Spring:

Ex Ovo Compilation (http://www.exovo.org/html/ex_ovo_records_-_the_label_for.html)

I've confirmed that the release will be on 12" vinyl LP (!). I haven't owned a turntable in 20 years....
