This guy Koji Kondo is a genius..
There are 3 or 4 composers in there, but i personally love the Mario Bros, and Zelda's music, composed by Kondo.
I remember these songs were one of the first things i played on my little Casio SA-7 of 32 keys, when i was 8 or 9 years old, while i was playing my SuperNintendo.

Excuse the cheap plug for my own site, but I do have accurate midis of the entire Sonic 2 soundtrack, Green Hill Zone, and the entire Super Mario Bros soundtrack. The Mario ones are exact transcriptions, if anyone wants to give them a try.
try this one

Yeah his technique looks weird to me too.. my teacher would hit me for those things you mention :P but who am i to tell him how to play?? XD
you should do a search for 'videogame pianist' there in youtube.com.. there are 2 videos of him playin mario themes in the E3.. and wow.. quite impressive too.. fast left hand chops.
btw.. that guy playin mario on guitar rocks!! i like the tunnel sound and coins and everything!

thanks, specially for the vid!
wow thats really cool!
I want to play that stuff! Can anyone tell me where to find sheet music of that?
I already found some midi files, but i especially want to play this one: 03 Super Mario World 1—Intro Theme, Donut Plains Theme, Yoshi’s Island Theme, Vanilla Dome Theme, Forest of Illusion Theme, Star Road Theme, and Valley of Bowser Theme The beginning of this file is just great!
And it would be really nice if someone could recommend me a good midi program. Right now i use NoteWorthy Player but i dont like its notation. It is an endless row ;-)
