I've been wanting an EBMM JP7 for a couple of years already, and yesterday I finally got mine.

-LAVA PEARL
-Matching HeadStock
-Piezo

This guitar is amazing, I'm so inspired to play 24/7...

Just wanted to share with you guys, it's been a great 2006 so far in this side of the pond.

Wow..very nice..!! The frets looks really big on your hands! :) Probably because of the 7 strings..

Lava Pearl.. interesting... is that sort of like warm red?

Congrats on the new toy! The next step would be posting some sound samples...

Awesome! And cool that someone here listens to what I say! ;)

Well, yes, sound samples would be the next thing I'd request, too. You've got 48 hours. :D

The fretboard is larger than what I was used to with my Ibanez for sure... But it's nothing that bothers me, I think it's easier to play. My hands are actually quite large for my size (5'8", 19cm from wrist to middle finger tip, 23cm from thumb tip to pinky).

I'd say the Lava is something in between blood RED and your average Orange.

About sound samples... I don't think my MP3s would do justice to this guitar. I record direct from the amp. My recorded tone is LIGHT YEARS away from my real tone coming from the cab. I'm postponing buying an SM57 for awhile now. I've been getting larger toys and forgot about the little one... Maybe after I buy my workstation... :P

I'll post an mp3 though, if you guys want...

Here's a vid of TDOE ending (6mb or so)... with random low B everywhere (this is what happens when you've never played a 7 before).

And here are some 7 string TGP riffs I learned now for the purpose of this vid (1.78mb)... No point in showing clips of a 7 string guitar without low B action.

Good idea w/ the video.. we can hear the sound coming out of your amp that way...

hehehe.. in the short clip ones, you're looking at the camera with a body language saying... "see.. it sounds fuckin' good isn't it??!!" :) and i went "yeaaaaapppp!! defintely sounds kick ass! got the JP tone there (with the treble character)"... and yeah.. your arm looks normal on this one.. :)

TDOE cover - the tone sounds warmmmmm!!! the playing is a bit sloppy at first, but then slowly getting very tight, except the little slop at the end ;)

So you could get JP tone just from the sig. gtr? no need to combine it with Mesa Boogie Rectifier or whatever JP uses?

Actually, this IS the crappy tone I was reffering to... The tone is still going to the soundcard from the direct out on the back of my mark IV. I know it's a MESA and all but the Power AMP simulation just can't compare to the real sound coming out of the tubes + cab that I get otherwise.

The sounds on both vids are slightly different because I eqed them differently in SONAR 3... I have like a SFAM eq setting (warmer) and a Train of Thought setting (more on the recto side).

From personal experience... I'd say the biggest part of getting a JP tone is with a MESA BOOGIE amp... I did come quite close with my Ibanez RG520... The Musicman JP7 just pushed it a step further.

I wish you guys could hear the tone from the cab...
