Massive pedal tone for the Alesis Ion

Saw wave on all 3 oscs. Drop one down 2 octaves and the other 2 down 1 octave. Detune one of the -1 octave waves by around 25 cents. Turn Unison on Full and set it to about 10. This is the basic sound.

For filters you'll want to use the mg 4 pole lowpass and the tb 3 pole lowpass filters. On the mg filter, set resonance to around 50, frequency to around 35, and env amount to around 70. On the tb filter, turn Offset on. Set the offset amount (what used to be frequency) to -4.00 and set resonance to around 50. Set env amount to aroun 70.

Now, go to the filter envelope generator. Attack = 0, Decay = 0, Sust time = 0 Sust level = 100%, Release = around 3000 ms. Change the release time to change how quickly the sound whooshes down.

Go to the amp envelope generator. Attack = around 20, Decay = 0, Sust time = hold, Sust level = 100%, Release = around 800 ms.

Finally, go to the effects section and add a tube overdrive at about 50. Also, try adding a little phaser.

There it is! Hold down a low A and shred like Yngwie :) .

I get my ion back from alesis tomorrow and ill try this! nice. one thing- I wasn't aware this even HAD an effects section, do you mean when you say "Finally, go to the effects section and add a tube overdrive at about 50. Also, try adding a little phaser. " that you assume this is with some some sort of external distortion pedal? also, in case you cant tell, I am very ignorant when it omes to this, so is it assumed that we are on the default preset for this or on of the leads?

Yes, you start out on the Default patch (User 127). The distortion effects are on the upper right of the board in the "Drive" section. The other effects are to the right of the Drive knob.

ok followed instructs exactly, butan mp3 sample would be cool- I dont think what im producing sounds like what it is supossed too. also, what should the shape of the wave look like and how should eacher of the osc and filters be mixed with each other?
