Thank you, thank you!
As I confessed to Dani, shaking hands with Jordan backstage would have been a dream come true but I rather win this sweepstake than get a slap in the face! I will still buy my ticket for the next DT show in Montreal.
To prove my gratitude to this wonderful community, I am organizing a sweepstake for 5 questions in ACCENT magazine. There will be 5 winners, each winning a spot for a question. Questions are subject to review before acceptation. Each winner must submit me 5 questions in order of preference. I will definitely consider this order but also how each question fits with the rest of the interview I'll be packing up.
I have picked 5 numbers from 0 to 100 (inclusively) that I have written in my head. The first 5 people to get a correct answer will be awarded the grand prize. Once a correct answer is choosen, it can't be picked anymore (quite obvious if you have a brain, but I am not really used to making sweepstakes, so I better try to clear things up). Maximum of 1 entry per person per day. Sweepstakes start January 6 at 12:00 EPT. (to give you an idea its 18:46 right now) and end as soon as 5 people are choosen. 1 win per person maximum.
If you don't think I am totally serious, well, I confirm, I am. :)
For the rest of the interview, I will still need your help! I'd like to gather the most links possible to JR interviews in order to try not to ask the same old thing. I know there has been an interview available in the Wheel or something like that but unfortunately, I am not a member of the wheel, so I dunno what happened during this interview. If someone could at least provide me the questions that were asked, it would be greatly appreciated.
I also encourage you to post in this thread questions that you may find interesting to ask him! Try to be original! I am willing to have a few questions in different categories like music, family, sports, youth and whatever.
Thanks for your participation in making the greatest JR interview ever!
Edit : just to make things a bit more official, I will send Dani an email with my 5 numbers to prove that everybody has the same odds of winning.

The sweepstake has begun!
To try to stimulate some interests in you, I'll be giving a tip every day to narrow the possible results.
Tip of the day : My birthday.
P.S.: I'd really like to write this interview, but I really need your help. If nobody helps me gather some questions and old interviews with Jordan, I'll probably end up asking stupid things. I don't have much time to put on that interview.
Dani : could you please send me more information about the interview? Maximum number of questions, when it should be ready, etc. Everything I need to know. Thx.

YOU HAVE THE RIGHT ANSWER!!!
**victory song**
No more tips for today, but people can still try to guess.
Please post your 5 questions in the thread to make it easy for me to look back at them all at the same place. One of them is almost sure to make it to the interview!!!
Thanks for your participation (I feel like the entry count won't be as high as I expected). You can still send other question ideas in the thread if you feel like it.
Edit : yes posting your answer in the thread is the good way of participating.

That was close dude! You're in between 2 good answers!
That was my tip of the day :)
@ EloHiR ElEnDIl : I will answers your question right away :
1 - No :) (Seriously they may eventually go there but thats not the kind of questions I am going to ask him)
2 - Of course
3 - Probably
Look deep into yourself! I'm sure you can find something interesting to ask him.

ok...your tip was the answer I only look at your profile and there it was..:September 11....:P
If there would be a K2700x would he moved from the Oasys ( just imagine I know that it isn't probably but just imagine)...............
Yeah i'm not really following the whole "sweepstakes inside a sweepstakes" thing so i'll just participate by throwing out a few questions i'd like to know (even though i'll never see them because im not an Accent subscriber)...
- The band covered Pink Floyd's "Dark side of the moon" this year. What albums/bands would you like to cover in the future?
- Any chance of paying tribute to those groups outside Dream Theater?
- What's next for you as far as solo releases is concerned?
- Are there any artists you have always wanted to work with but haven't?
- Since you started playing piano, have you ever gone a day without practicing?
- A minute?
- Right. I know you are fluent (to say the least) with playing piano, lap steel guitar, and electric guitar. Are there any other instruments you can play/have always wanted to play?
- Have you ever experienced "Writer's block" when writing music? if so, what methods could you suggest to overcome it?
- Is there a particular reason you have never helped out with the backing vocals in Dream theater? You are a strong singer and to say you have a great voice would be an understatement.
Hope i helped with the ideas at least!

Dude, why not let us all ask five questions and you choose the ones you consider more interesting. I mean, there might be someone with very good questions but never guesed your number. Just a thought.
Ok, my number is 6.
Anyway, here are some questions to consider, I'm not an ACCENT suscriber either.
1.- Is there any modern keyboardist you consider a close competition?
2.- Any plans on working with an orchestra either a full blown piano concerto or a concerto for lead and orchestra or rock group and orchstra etc?
3.- What piece of gear you've sold and later regret you did and why?.
4.- What was the last keyboard you payed for, before and after endorsing keyboards? (Come on, he is an endorsee for so many companies there has to be something he payed for recently).
5.- What's with November and great keyboardists? Keith Emerson Nov 2nd, Jens Johansson Nov 2nd and Jordan Rudess Nov 4th Are you guys up to something? (My BD is Nov 3rd, it has to mean something dammit :frown: )
5.- Now seriously, where would JR be now if you'd never joined DT?

Thanks for the reply people!
The sweepstakes is just to GUARANTEE a spot for a question in the magazine as soon as the question makes sense and is a bit original. I will of course take into consideration a lot of the things that people will submit here. If you don't want to participate in the sweepstake's sweepstake's, its your choice! Anyway beside Rayman and EloHiR ElEnDIl the participation count hasn'T been rally high, so I don't think the sweepstake will have made a big difference on the interview at the end.
I really appreciate the input, but I would like you to try to think about less related music question. We have to try to find out some nasty little Jordan secrets ! :) We all know he plays music, but I'd like to know him more as a man too.
Think about anything like :
- his favorite chocolate bar
- his watch brand
- his car
- his thought on Petrucci's flaming pants. Any chances to see him with flames drawings on his sleeves?
- did he shave because he started to have gray hairs?
- is he afraid of dying?
etc....
theres so many things that can be asked beside the usual musical related questions.
@ Rayman's : no its not a good answer. My previous tip should have point you out directly on an answer (11 .. 7 .. ?)
Tip of the day : Birthday of a miracle maker.

hehe sorry dude no luck again! but you're trying so hard that you deserve a question for Jordan anyway. I'll be removing number 3, since it was the answer I was looking for with my previous tip (first answer was 11, you said 7 and I said that you were right in between 2 answers, so logically 3 should have come next, though there could have been other possibilities, but its not the case) .
The birthday tip is still valid!

ah, I actually thought about both 3 and 4. 3 beacause 3 - 7 - 11. 4 because it's Jordans birtday and there is a connecting to 11 and 7 (11-7=4).
Because of the tip, I went with 4:smile: Thank you for giving me a question though!

Due to the very low participation count and the lack of interest from Jordan's own community to know more about him, I cancel the sweepstake. Rayman and EloHiR ElEnDIl, you will still have a priority question in the interview if you want and if I ever finish it.
I will also take the opportunity to thank the wheel team for trying (yeah just trying) to give me access to the questions of the interview that was asked before Christmas. Not only were you quick to tell me that you could provide me with the questions or not, but it was probably very hard to do and very time consuming, so I really appreciate the big effort.
Thanks again! I really start to feel like its going to be a great interview!

Heh, well, i tried. I just think the type of questions you were after are slightly trivial and things that he really probably doesn't want everybody in the world to know. If i really wanted to know what his favourite chocolate bar was, i might have tried again, and maybe so would have some other people. It just seems a little irrelevant (sp?), but at least you're trying something different to the norm i guess. Oh well, not like i'll be seeing the questions/issue of accent anyway.
good luck with the interview!
edit: also, most people read the thread title and the first post announcing the winner, and assume that the competition is over - that could be another reason for the low participation.
