Hey everyone! Hope things are goin good. :D

I am in the market for a great MIDI controller (with keys on it). I have seen a bunch online, including some kurzweils, but don't know if they offer what i need (maybe i just dont know what its called). I want to be able to use a MIDI controller that can utilize a software synth program to play patches live or just at home. I also want the controller to be able to change parameters in the software quick (within 1 sound) or change entire sound setups quickly. Because of this, i dont really need on board sounds.

So what do y'all recommend?

Thanks a bunch in advance,
Nouri

You might need to specify the amount of keys on the controller 25, 37,49. 61, 76 or 88 ? Do you want weighted, semi or unweighted ?

Just a quick list of good solid (fairly cheap controller)

Edirol PCR range of Keyboard controllers (37,49,61 versions)
I have the 61 key version and very happy with it, has got a good action.

Fatar Studiologic VMK88 (this looks cool)

M-Audio / Evolution range of keyboard controllers.
(good controllers but the action is no too good - depends on taste).

Novation ReMote range of controllers (25,49,61 versions)
Semi-weighted controllers with excellent features - highly recommended and affordable. You could afford the 61 key Audio Extreme version which will be awesome when released.

Hope this helps - :D

Is there a 88-key semi-weighted contrller ever made?

Sure! Kurzweil's SP88 is one of them.

Angelic Layer,

If you click on the image of the keyboard, far top lefthand corner of the board you can see the pitch wheel (Looks like a horizontol wheel with a lever!) but its marked pitch wheel.
