I believe the Korg is a CX3 - he's playing B3 stuff in the clips.

The Nord is a very hot item in LA these days - Weingart, Mitch Forman, Sherinian, and Scott Kinsey are all featuring it.

I think that all drummers will be out of a job soon. Virgil will take over the world and play for every band. At the same time. Because he is that good.

Ah, Virgil - I remember listening to one of his CDs like 4 years ago while I was still in drumline, and quite a drummer - and it just blew me away. Theres something about him - like when I listen to Portnoy, I go, "shit, he's good", but Virgill, well, I recall something more like "Wow."

Virgil is in a class with Vinnie Colaiuta. http://www.vinniecolaiuta.com/ They both approach music from a very unique place. To over use an expression - they "think out of the box". It's a very rare gift.

If you really want to explore what a difference a unique drummer can make, check out two recordings of a tune by Michael Landau on the following CDs:

Tales from the Bulge
Live 2000.

Listen to the tune "Big Bulge". The studio version has Vinnie on drums and the live version has another fantastic drummer - Toss Panos. Both versions and both CDs are killer! However, Vinnie transforms Landau's tune by his approach on the drums. He turns it into something far more exciting - you really should check it out!
