Topic says it all:

What are your plans for 2006?
Mine are the following: I am going to visit a very close friend of mine in Italy and we will be having such a blast! She lives in Brescia and we are going to have the biggest of parties together, enjoying the summer in Italy. She's also coming to Holland to see James LaBrie live with me and some other girls, can't hardly wait! And then I am planning on meeting many new people and expand my social network much more and who knows? maybe I'll find me a very cool guy to have a wonderful time with for who knows how long.. I'm already having some real nice contacts with a nice finelooking man at the creditcard company I work for.. he's our facilities manager and I'm working at the office at the customer service! Only 2006 will tell whether something nice is coming out of it for us. I am going for it to say the least :D
Oh and before I forget: I am also planning on doing more sports the coming year. December was an off month sportswise. Way too busy ;)

Ok, people... tell me all about your plans for the new year. The goals you're hoping to achieve etc.

Cheers,
Margaret.

I think for a start, I'm going to cut my hair. I've had long hair since college, since it's not really practical, it really isn't serving any purpose, and it certainly doesn't send an accurate message about its wearer (I am neither a hippy nor a metalhead, as people seem to assume about guys with long hair), so I think it's going to have to go. I just have to talk myself into it.

That's the only resolution I've thought about thusfar. I'd like to try to read more effectively, and to write a little more often than I seem to have done recently. I'd like to try and keep ahead in keeping the house better-organized, which we really didn't do so great a job of this year. I'd kind of like to find a band, play some bass, but that's not really a serious priority right now, and time is very limited.

That's about it, really.

Let's see...

(in no particular order or priority)

get a permanent job

find a band to play original music with

fully clean and organize my apartment, and get rid of any unnecessary junk/furniture/musical equipment/cds/records/tapes/etc... to maximize space and productivity and minimize stress and clutter

promote my website/forum so that it actually has a reason to exist

find a nice girl to go out with (and go out with her)

practice music (esp guitar, omg my guitar playing sucks so bad the last 2-3 years!)

really dig into synthesis, sampling, and sequencing beyond what I've done previously, especially FM which I have barely touched in the year+ since I finally got a "real" FM synth (my TG-77)

write and record some new original music at a level of quality that I would feel comfortable releasing to the world, rather than the tossed off sketches I usually do

get out of my apartment more and interact with other/new people more frequently

If I could do maybe 1/2 of those things it would probably be my best year in a while. 02 is the last time I can remember where I had a year that was pretty good overall. I got out of the army, had lots of money, a good job, went on a real vacation (one of the few without my family not counting concerts, and this was also in conjunction with my first trip to the west coast), and a lot of musical opportunities (that never went anywhere, but I didnt really know that at the time). Oh, and I bought a shitasstonload of cds and saw a ton of concerts, including some of my favorite musicians like Chick Corea Elektric Band, Oregon, Down, Yes (with Wakeman twice), and more. And historically I have my best years at odd ages (ie 15, 17, 19, 21, and 23 were all really good years, and 25 was better than 24 or 26)

Well... I'd like to start by saying how wonderful my 2005 was. This year was truly great for me and my loved ones. I just hope 2006 can match it.

A few of my plans:

- 3 periods of college in 1 year. I hadn't had class the past 4 moths because the teachers were on strike. So Jan/3 class restarts and I'll probably breath only in december.

- Despite the tight schedule with classes and all, I'll make myself some free time for a few trips. The first one will be to Disney World in June (a few of my family members + girlfriend). Second one is not certain yet, but almost, will be to Chile in October (with the people from my college).

- This year really promises to contain my GAS. My EBMMJP7 is to arrive in January. - We (my brother and I, with my dad's support) will be designing/building our own Rehearsing/Recording studio. - In june I'll be buying my workstation while I'm at the US (I'm currently undecided between the Roland Fantom-X8 and the Kurzweil K2600XS). - My brother will buy his bass amp (probably a Mesa BigBlock 750) with a few roadready cabs.

- I'm starting a business (with brother + 2 friends) to offer 3d solutions (mostly for architects and engineers). We started slowly this year. Not much work yet, but 2006 is promising.

- Have plans of playing and writing originals with 2 bands of different styles. One pretty mainstream (with a high quality seal of approval I will demand), the other more Prog-Metal oriented. Hoping to record some demos by the end of the year, but realisticlly this will be pushed into 2007.

Happy New Year to all of you here at the JRForum. Hope all your plans workout.
