Tried finding the thread with no success...
Is it possible that 'Online Collaboration' will remain a legend til the end of time?
It's truly frustrating to see all these awesome projects start and not see the light of day.
That JRFCD started at a great pace and died a horrible death... A pitty, cuz I was actually liking the song that Enigma and I had started.
If anything new starts to cook up lemme know, I haven't lost my hopes yet to see one of these projects actually get done.

The forum CD died because everybody saw it as this opportunity to get the limelight. Literally almost every forum member who has ever posted here (even once) wanted to get a peice of the pie. It had the potential to be something really cool and they wanted their name stamped on it so that they could get recognition among prog-metal musicians for being "that person that played the bitchin' solo on _________"
But unfortunately there were very few people willing to put in the work necessary...even just taking 5 minutes to look over an idea and add to it or give a few thoughts. So it died out quickly because after the initial "let me be the star!!!" rush, there were only a few people who even did anything.
It was disappointing and very lame on the part of many, who would jump into any available spot. "We need someone to write something for..." I'LL DO IT PLS THX. And then that person wouldn't follow through, and anybody else who might have actually done the work didn't get the chance, because the slot was already filled by someone looking to expand their own ego but not willing to put any work towards the project.
I never voiced my opinion on how it went down before, because while it was still hanging around (but not doing anything) it would have looked bad if the person who started the original thread about it suddenly turned and started bashing on everybody for being jerks about the whole thing. Honestly though, I would have loved for it to happen between *some* posters here, but not the huge numbers that tried to get involved. As soon as that started happening I knew we were headed for a big pile of nothing. It wound up just being something that sucked entirely because...well, I've pointed it all out already. And this is my toned-down opinion on it. If I had the original thread(s) here to look at and I was having a bad day, I'd totally rip into half the forum for douching the project up so much.

I know what you mean.
I thought it was strange that you, the topic starter, never commented on the project's death. I feel your frustration.
Democracy has proven itself useless in these projects, enough.
I'm in favour of some despotism to actually see this project (or at least some reminiscence of it) develop into a final product.
Meaning... You, the mastermind behind the original concept chooses the forumers to work with you on the first few songs, and work it one at a time.
I'm still up for this sort of thing... and I tell you, I'll take it to the end, rest assured (respecting my limitations in talent, gear, technique of course) :) .

It's really a pity. I knew I wouldn't have had time to dedicate to it, so I didn't reply to involve myself in something I couldn't follow (I didn't even have time to read all the posts). But I was really looking forward to hearing it finished. I'd have felt some kind of pride in hearing that work when finished, recorded by people I kind of know, for some years now.
