Anyone have a Dell DJ, or other non-iPod?

Hey,

I'm looking into MP3 player technology, but really don't wanna go with the
whole iPod deal. I've been looking into the Dell DJ a lot, and was wondering
if any of you folks own one, or any of the other non-iPod players?

not too much like an MP3 player.I was looking before buying an Ipod but I think I made the right choice I was looking the Creative Zen but It's an imitation of the Ipod IMO and the Ipod has games,contacts and other stuff that's why I picked it..:P

good:

Its not an ipod :wink:
Battery life...20 hours easily!! beats ipods 12 hours hands down
Sound quality IMO better than Ipod
Price

Bad:

User interface takes more getting used to than Ipod
Personally I have had some bad experience with trying to update firmware and with player freezing and crashing, however i must say the technical support has been great and im currently awating a replacement for my Zen which is being replaced for free due to its fault.

one question: WHy don't you like the Ipod?I think the best option is the Ipod I made a little chart:

I am looking into the 20GB Dell DJ.

Mostly, what I'm trying to get away from is iTunes.

Every one of my friends that has an iPod say they hate iTunes. With all
of the other devices, you can use Windows Media Player to sync or even
Winamp. The other thing that really annoys me about Apple is their
tech support.

I'm not much of a Mac fan, but I was helping a friend install their new iPod
to their dual G5... We ended up calling Apple, and they told us after our
1 free call, it was gonna be like $35 to get support! What kind crap is that
after he just bought *the most expensive* mp3 player on the market. Anyway,
after giving them our home address and over 10 minutes worth of other personal
information, their insight was that we needed to upgrade our entire OS before
we could get the iPod working... Thanks Apple, thats exactly what I wanted
to hear...

Lastly, I use a palmOne Treo cell phone for pretty much everything (contacts,
games, calendar, GPS, camera, etc etc). The only reason I'm not using that
as a music player is simply because I'm planning to use the player in my car
only, and I already use my phone for GPS in the car... So I don't need Apple's
contacts thingy.

Ok that's your why...!I'm still waiting for a PDA phone with 60 gb of HDD so I wouldn't need the Ipod nor the cellphone or the PSP...:P!

By the way Why not a Creative I think It's better looking...:P

I've used Creative Labs products since 2002 (currently have the Nomad Zen Xtra). I've tried friend's iPod's, and never really liked them as much.

Actually, iPod copied Creative, Apple even admitted it, but that's a whole other story.

I myself am using a Creative Zen NEEON. It's good, it#s smaller than an iPod mini and holds 5gb, but the screen is quite small, so browsing can be a pain if your in a rush.

Didn't know that I tought that Apple made it first thatn Creative anyway everybody think that!:P I'm very happy with aplle I was happy with my 4G Ipod and I'm happy now with my 5G Ipod..:P
