Hi,

Great forum you got here. I've been scouring the net trying to find intelligent, objective comparisons between various digital pianos w/o much success.

I've demoed the Mark 10, and I was blown away with the sounds, and overall build quality compared to the lower priced CLPs (150, 120), and Roland (Hp-2) that I looked at.

However, the dealer I went to did not carry the CLP-170.

For those who have either worked on, or played on with, either of these units, can you share with me your impressions?

My biggest concern is first with the responsiveness of the keys, second is sound. All the other bells and whistles are secondary.

I've also read about, but not seen, the Mark 12i. I'm not sure it's in my price range, but would it be worth the extra funds over the 10? I know the 10 is an older model, is a new version coming out soon, like a 10i?

Thanks in advance!

Ed

Hello all.

I am new to this, and stumbled on the site while searching information about the Kurzweil Mark 10. I have owned one for about 9 years or so. I have recently considered replacing it (I am a classical composer) but have not found an instrument with the sounds that I use that are anywhere NEAR the beauty of the Kurzweil. It needs some repair now as several of the "switches" no longer work along with the sustain pedal and the like. I just can't bear to part with it so I called a repairman today. Hopefully he will be able to put her back in shape for me without costing an arm and a leg. I guess parts are hard to find?

Anyway, I am home with a broken foot (high school teacher of Music History/Theory/Piano) and I also just learned that I have the family illness where I am approaching kidney failure. Figured it was time to start saving the thousands of pieces I have written on CD rather than cassette. So today. I ordered a Roland CD 2 CD burner. This technical stuff is way beyond me (I'm 55...almost an antique) but am looking forward to trying to burn CD's without use of a computer (I HATED THAT process and the results were lousy). Anyway, can anyone give me any pointers. I will be using my Yamaha DGX 500 until my Kurzweil is repaired. I am wondering if I will have trouble with midi cables and all that stuff. (I know essentially nothing about this process).

Also, in my music classes, many of the students play electric guitar and I would like to bring in my CD burner thingy for them to use and perhaps burn CD's for them to share with friends. What a great bunch of kids! (High school kids really get a bum wrap....I've been teaching this level for 24 years and am endlessly
impressed with what really good kids they are!)

Anyway, enough rambling. Anything you could share with me about the Kurzweil Mark 10 or my new Roland CD 2 burner (due here in about a week) would be appreciated.

Thanks so much!

Alan

Hi. Just wanted some advice please. I hope you don't mind.

I am just about to sell my Mark 10. Played four times and kept as if it were brand new.

Not getting too much for it - would you hold on to this if it were yours? It is as new and I am being offered around £2000 english pounds.

What to do?

Thanks so much
