Hi all.
I wanted to know if the JD990 had the same factory presets than the JD800.
I know it doesn't have all those great realtime controls, but I just wanted to know about the factory presets.
Thanks in advance ;)

Yes. It has a few additional waveforms as well, if I remember right. It can also split the filter from the 800...which has one 24 db filter...the 990 can use that or split it into two 12 db filters if you want. At least I think that's it...if not, then there's a similar thing like that.
A lot of little differences between them. The 990 is certainly better for sounds overall because of its little perks, but it's also not as fun. ;)

Does the JD-800 accept any SR JV-80 expansion cards?
The JD-990 I think have a place for one expansion card. The nice thing to know also is that you get extra waveforms from the Vintage Synth card that are only accessible on the JD-990.
You don't get these extra waveforms if you install this card in, say, the JV-1080. You get a total of 512 waveforms from this board if installed on the JD-990 vs. only 255 if installed on the JV. (source: www.vintagesynth.com)

Yeah it takes one expansion card.
That's weird about the JD reading more info from it than the JV...

There isn't additional waveforms, but additional patches which -I assume- combines waveforms from the card and internal waveforms of the JD990. Those patches are in the memory of the JD990 so that when it detects the Vintage board, they suddenly appear :D

So what makes these patches unloadable/unplayable in the JV? Does the JD have more insert EFX? Can anyone explain?
Thanks.

I guess it combines waveforms of the SRJV board with waveforms of the JD990 that are not included on the JV synths. Or as you said, perhaps they use some parameters, filters, effects, structures or whatever, that are specific to the JD990.
