Hey,
I'm interested in making Alex Argento's Synth lead tone.
What Waveform, filters are used?

Yeah, it's a pretty sweet lead.
Anyway, I think he still lurks from time to time. Good luck!

The wierd thing is that his web page www.alexargento.com is not online anymore!!! Last thing I heard from him is on one of the Yahoo groups back in July saying that his debut CD "Ego" will be released soon. It'll be great if he reads this and tell us more about that.

Hi guys,
first of all I want to thank u for your interest in my music..THANKS THANKS THANKS!!! well: about my site, I forgot to pay my domain for the new year LOL anyway, I'll "fix" the problem soon and it will be online again the next week...I'm also sorry for the lack of updates about my album (and my website too!), but now I finally found the time to complete it definitively ( couse I'm usually busy with my daily musical jobs). The big new about me is that I found and incredible drummer (and also a great "brother" in my life!!) who is recording all the drums on my songs (for who didn't knew about that, I used drum samples before that). His name is Stefano Ruscica and I'm sure you will listen a lot of great things about him soon..I can guarantee that!! ;) He completed to record 4 songs yet and they came out great!
The mixing process will be done in December for sure..I hope to release it immediately after that.
About my lead sound: I use Roland JD-800 for lead solos...as many of you know, Roland JD800 has a great distortion effect and I noticed that no matter what waveform u use on your lead, becouse the 80% of the global sound comes from the distortion :P. Anyway, the samples I used on my lead are essentially two: a classic saw wave and an "percussion organ" sound...But as I told u now, the icing on the cake is the JD distortion :D
That's all for now... Thanks again :)
Peace,
Alex.

Thank you very much.
I created the exact same lead tone.
I use Pro-53 soft synth which is a Prophet 5 emulation.
And i used a quality distortion effect in the cubase effects section and tweaked it a bit and that's it i got the Alex tone.
Bye

Well...if anyone can have Allan Holdsworth agree to play on his CD, he is good in my book :D
When Alex's website was on he had a couple of songs from his new album posted, one of them is called "Moving around E", and I think it features Allan playing on guitar. I liked it very much. I still have it if anyone is interested. PM me your e-mail. It's about 5.5 MB in size though.

It wasn't Allan on Moving Around E, it was a friend of Alex's...I think it's the same guy who played on Elements of Persuasion. I don't recall ever seeing anything about Allan playing on Alex's album, but him and the guitarist DID record a jam over The Bradford Executive, written by Holdsworth. Is that maybe what you're thinking of?

Yep that was it. My apologies. I think also because this song was initially called "Holdsworth Lore" or something like that.
Best.

I got a message from Alex telling me that Allan Holdsworth never played on any of his albums.

That was a mistake on my part. I thought he did play on at least one song. But I was wrong. The title of the song (or at least the downloaded file "Holdsworth Lore") was I think the cause of this confusion. The tone of the guitar used on that song didn't help either :D It is very similar to Allan's.

Allan Holdsworth has not played on any Alex argento Songs.
Holdsworth Lore etc are tributes to Allan Holdsworth.
