I finally got this keyboard 1 week ago...
What about this keyboard to you? The Good, the Bad?
Personally i found it very complete.. comparing it with older QS versions, leads for example are veeery upgraded. The only thing i miss is my ribbon 10 cm controller, but i can handle it from my Yamaha djxII.
It would be good if u can give some comments about the qs8.2 synth =D

thanx !

I bought one mainly to have a decent 88-key ROMpler to take to jazz jams and gigs. It does the job for me, I use it mostly for the pianos, EPs, organs and clavs. The hammered key action is pretty good. The pads and leads are pretty good too, as most of the User programs were updated and/or re-written, and are an improvement over the 8.0 and 8.1 versions; and the famous Stereo Grand Piano multisample is now part of the internal ROM instead of being available only on a PCMCIA card. However, the hardware was considerably downgraded for cost reasons: plastic endcheeks instead of solid oak; no separate outputs (only stereo outs); no ADAT output; no serial output; only one PCMCIA slot instead of two; and no aftertouch. On the plus side, the DAC is now 24-bit instead of 18-bit, but the samples themselves are still 16-bit. As with previous QS models, sequences can be loaded in from an external sequencer or MIDI file into a PCMCIA card (to take sequences to gigs), but there is no actual internal sequencer. All in all, a pretty good ROMpler for the price. The QS series is now getting a bit 'long in the tooth' but the actual sound is right up there (IMO) with the big 3 workstations; it is just lacking a lot of the workstation bells and whistles and mega-storage ROM memory (still only 16 megs without a PCMCIA expansion card).

I used one for about a year then sold it. It had some nice sounds for the price. Actually, mine was the QS8.1 but I believe they just fancied up the exterior a bit to make the QS8.2 Anyway, I wrote a few songs while I had it and they are posted on my website. Take a listen if you'd like....it may give you an idea of what you can do with it. The one's that I used the QS8.1 on are " Ending It All, The Highlands, Imagination" :) Just click the link below.

I had a QS6.2. The exact same synth but with 61 keys.

Next to my XP80, 01WFD and Wavestation, it didn't sound very good. I planned to use it for rehearsals and small gigs but it wasn't worth keeping it.

I sold it and bought a Yamaha TX7, an Akai S2000 and an Oberheim Matrix 1000 instead. Life is better since then. ;D

My opinion is that it doesn't sound like a professional synth, but I never used it in my arrangements, so maybe it sounds not too bad mixed with other instruments.

Good move. I had the exact same keyboard and it was a cheap sounding piece of crap.

Yes agreed the 6.2 isn't really that great (just a somewhat outdated 61-key ROMpler with a cheap build quality), but the 8.2, 8.1, etc. make for very decent affordable 88-key controllers, and the sounds aren't that bad for layering with other synths, or using for bread-n-butter keyboard sounds on gigs. Again, the only reason I got one.
