What's the best way to play MIDI files on my kurz?

Carefully.

Kurzweil doesn't exactly support General Midi format, because its sounds are located rather differently than in GM supported device .
You can load midi file but:

1. In order to hear everything as it was supposed to be heard, you should, first of all , open the file in any midi editor and to change the instruments location and position to fit the kurzweil sound bank.

2. Kurzweil runs out of space very quickly when you deal with importing midi files, and the way to play them is to split the midi file, import it piece by piece as separate files, join them by "programming" the Kurweil to play them in a row (Pain in the ass, really).

Therefore the best way to play midi on kurzweil is through external sequencer, after you've finished with what's written in Par.1

Good Luck!

I have PowerTracks Pro Audio (came with Band In A Box). If I had a five track midi file, can I just save the note information, one track at a time, to a file and then import that information into a track on my Kurz?

It depends.
If the midi file you're talking about is written in GM format, you will have to change it to fit the Kurz one.
For instance, primary base drum on the Kurz is assigned to a C4 key, though on GM sound bank it's assigned to C3, therefore, if you'll try
to play GM base on Kurz, you will hear a Tom instead, because that's what assigned to a Kurz's C3 key.
The same thing applies to the rest of the instruments, so if you will import
GM Violin (patch number 40), Kurz will recognize it as JRLead (patch number 40 on Kurz).
About the second part of your question, if I understand you correctly, you want to split 5 track midi file into 5 single-tracked midi files, and then to import them into your Kurz..
If the midi file contains drum track, it is better to edit it outside the Kurz
before importing (reassigning, as I have written above)
If the midi file doesnt have drum track, and if it's not too long, you can import it as it is, without splitting, and then to change the voices in the Song mode.
