Hey everyone. For those of you who are fans of either band, I saw the first show of the tour in Lawrence, KS. I have to say, SYL just completely blew up the place! Devin Townsend has the most uncanny stage presence I have ever seen. This guy just works the audience. Fear factory was great (as usual) but Christian has some problems with a few songs which I'm pretty sure he was playing in the wrong key. Burton's vocals were awesome on the heavy stuff, but pretty awful on some of the melodic parts.

The opening act was Darkane, from Sweden. They had some pretty great solo sections and were all in all a good opening act. They SYL took the stage and tore the place apart. The next band was It Dies Today. I have no idea how this band has a spot above either Darkane or SYL, but they do. I thought they were absolutely terrible and irritating as hell. It seemed like a punk/emo band just took two metal/moshing licks and threw them into every song about six different times. Utterly pathetic. Then FF took the stage and had about a 10-12 song set list...by far the longest I had ever seen them play.

I would give the show a 6 out of 10 mainly because the crowd was small and mostly inactive, but a 10 for SYL (my first time ever seeing them) an 8.5 for FF, 6 for Darkane and a 1.5 for It dies Today.
