This is an Open Source DSP box. Seems to be extremely powerful and fully programmable.
Check it out.

It looks VERY powerful, a module that can be programmed like a computer to be a VA synthesizer, an effects unit, a guitar amp simulator, or anything! They even let you download the development kit to program your own instruments! I don't know how easy that is, but it's there if you want. I'm listening to the demos right now, and it sounds really good.
My impressions of it are that it sounds like an Access Virus, from what I've heard of its demos, never did get to play one, but the Virus sounds a bit like a Prophet 5, an old analog synth that is highly sought after today. The Chameleon synth has some additional digital waves like the Virus does, so doing some interesting digital sounds is also possible. Okay, enough of this internet stuff, time to activate some synthesizers of my own. ;)

Hey, that seems to work like Creamware's Noah (I think that's what it's called). With an open ended architecture I guess the sky's the limit. Welcome to the new millenium.

Looks like the Roland Vari-OS.
It took a while but they just releasd some updates for it:
VariOS-8 Analog Modeling Synth
VariOS 303 Analog Modeling Bass Synth
V-Producer for VariOS version 2.5 - Virtual D-field Pad similar to the V-Synth’s D-Field. New Virtual Keyboard controller window with Arpeggiator. PhraseScope Editing, which can be done directly on the waveform Bounce Vari-tracks within V-Producer with effects. Robot Mode can be switched on/off with continuous controller parameters.
Check out the cool movies, the Variphrase options seem really cool for realtime editing on samples.

Ed,
So you know if VariOS already integrated into the V-Synth and if so, is a computer necessary to edit.

The VariOS module looks like it supports some form of propritary soft synths, I dont think that option is in the V-Synth. They added the VariPhrase technology to the V-Synth. VariPhrase is a loop sampler that supports a number of realtime operations.
Someone needs to come out with a cost effective module that allows you to load and configure (via PC) VST and DXI soft synths and plug ins.
It appears that Roland and SoundArt are heading in the right direction.
