Hi!

Do you know how I can save an "everything" -file that is larger than 100MB to multiple 100MB ZIP -disks? When using floppy's, my Kurzweil can split it to multiple disks, but this doesn't seem to work with ZIP's. Or does it? I bought a 100MB ZIP drive, because I can't find an external SCSI 250MB drive ANYWHERE! Thanks!

I hope it's similar to the Multiple Spanning options WinZip has... I never had a ZIP drive, so the only thing I can imagine is that the possibility to do a multiple spanning with a ZIP drive does exist, maybe using WinZip itself.

Yes, but I need to save the file straight from my Kurzweil, and I don't think Kurz supports Winzip... :)

One thing I did was to save the everything file as an "objects" file, including all but samples to the first disk. Then to the second and third disk saving again objects, but this time only the keymaps. Half of them to the second and half of them to the third disk. Then, when Kurzweil prompts if I want to save dependent files I answer yes. Thus, if the WORST happens (Hard drive malfunction, my K is stolen / broken etc), I can simply load the first disk as an "everything load", and then just load the keymaps again from the second and third disks. This way I don't have to load all of the samples one by one. More thoughts anyone?

Have you considered something like a Jazz or Orbit drive. They have something like 2 gig of space. Disk cost about $35 each. Probably if you looked at it as a per/bite cost, the Jazz/Orbit type drives are more economical. Plus they are more functional (I imagine they are faster, and they have plenty of space).

I currently have a zip, but if I had a little extra money I'd purchase an orbit drive.

Good luck, John.

Whoops! Sorry Botne, I was a bit "offline" when I posted my suggestion, and so I didn't notice the little detail of your Kurzweil...

Hi!

Do you know how I can save an "everything" -file that is larger than 100MB to multiple 100MB ZIP -disks? Most of the 250mb Zip drives I've seen are USB. But I did find an external 250mb drive on Ebay, as well as a few Jaz drives (2gb, but much more expensive) on Pricewatch. Here's a link to one of the 250mb Zip SCSI drives on Ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2755135733&category=37 57), and another (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2755558715&category=37 57)..

I just did a search for "scsi zip" and these came up in the first page. I'm sure there are more, as well as Jaz drives on there as well. Give it a shot.

Thanks, but I need to buy it from Finland. It would propably cost too much to order it overseas...

Maybe someone could help you purchase one off ebay & then ship it to you. Don't know how much the shipping would be. I beleave a used 2gig Jazz drive has been sellling on ebay for about $30 USD.
