Microphone Reccomendations?

hey. im looking for a good microphone that i can mic my keyboard amp/speakers with to my computer. i dont want something too expensive, but want a good quality mic that can pick up the quality of sound that my keyboard produces. any suggestions?

how exactly would i go about doin that? i tried once with a 1/4"->1/8" cable running straight into my pc mic outlet, but the sound was really crappy. a friend of mine has a microphone hooked into a pre-amp, which is somehow hooked into his computer. i used my pc mic once, but that was crap. i want to be able to get the exact/close enough to exact sound from my keyboard into my pc so i can record effectively. if this is possible without a good quality mic, let me know please :D . thanks.

What kind of sound card do you have?

With a decent sound card you won't need any mic at all (which is the best way to record keyboards). :D

Don't use the 1/8 inch "mic" input, it will almost always come out sounding like crap. Instead you should use the 1/8 inch stereo "line in" on your sound card if you have that. Run an 1/8 inch setero cable from your line in to the headphone jack (use an adapter on the headphone end if it is 1/4 inch). Go to your sound card options and make sure that line in is selected as the recording source and you should be all set. If your sound card doesn't even have a line in, get a new sound card :mrgreen:

It will give you 2 1/4 inch inputs so you can record the left and right 1/4 outputs of your keyboard and it also has 2 mic inputs with built in mic preamps just in case you ever wanted to record something with mics.
