That's a nice shot from yesterday's show! (not taken by me)
The modular sounded absolutely fantastic, the continuum was really wicked and the Oasys blew me away... I was just kind of wondering what he needs the receptor for? There's heaps of sonic power on there as it is.. (the receptor's at the bottom of his rack there)
If you look to the right of the modular, there's a small controller on a bench; that's for James to control the Oasys while jordan jams on the lapsteel!
Oh yeah, they played Octavarium yesterday!

Those V-Synth XT Racks look awesome in the rack. And like Jordans military look.

i remember reading one of the more recent interviews, jordan said that he was going to bring the modular one the tour just for like a few speciality sounds that were hard to recreate on the oasys...just sort of filling in the sonic gaps!

do you mean the controller attached to modular? or that thing way on the right? cuz it doesn't look like a keyboard...is it the side view? that's cool that they bring a controller just for james...i can't wait for the next US leg!!

The Continuum had a rotating stand of its own. On Sacrified Sons Jordan played the Continuum and the OASYS at the same time looking like rick wakeman

I mean the little black box on the drum throne-like chair. I think it has programmaple pads, just like the Oasys. James played it with just one hand. Also, as Spock's mentioned, when Jordan played the Oasys simultaneously with the continuum, he was using the pads most of the time.
I liked Jordan's look as well, especially the t-shirt that says "The Joker" on the back.
During the first set I was standing (or floating, rather) a few meters to the right from you, Spock, but I didn't like the sounds there so I moved back next to the front-of-house crew for the 2nd set. From there I could hear Jordan way better, not just the leads. I still couldn't hear bass, though, apart from the solo spots. But from what I hear, the ice hall is a pretty difficult place soundwise.

It would've been cool to be closer in the front to see the guys of DT better.

Take a look at the setlist thread, Haagi. I guess some people don't want to know what they played, so I don't post the setlist here.

Tradtionally they only release a live DVD every 2 albums or so, but then again, they did release 5 Years in a LiveTime and Live Scenes From New York with only one album in between, so I definitely think they should make another exception.

In an interview, Portnoy said he is pushing for a DVD release of the 20th Anniversary show in NY, which will be the closing show of the American Tour in 2006. I'm sure that will contain Octavarium, as well as probably some surprises.

That would be awesome, since the stage scene is awesome, and the songs are fantastic, and I guess they also play better than ever before!
Peace out,

Just because he was playing the OASYS doesn't mean that's all you were hearing. It wouldn't surprise me a bit if he's using synthogy piano and/or Absynth and simlar programs...

Sure, I realise that (not a noob, mate). I was just sort of semi-wondering that the oasys can't deliver all he needs for piano/organ/orchestral/pads.. But of course there are things that Vst:s do better than the oasys.
