so, my alesis qs. 7.1 has "died" (long story) and I have decided that my current funds and needs bring me to the korg trition le 76. I know it is lacking in effects (which I am not sure how big of a thing that is), but otherwise I am not too concerned about the other features I am missing out with the other tritons, and other keyboards that I would really want, like a kurzweil k2600, are still not anywhere near my price range of 1000-1500. I figure that is it a good board for prog rock, as I hear synths and leads are its strong point. Anyway, does anyone know the system of saving edits of the presets and what not? One thing I didn't like about my alesis was the fact that I was very limited to only so many custom edits of presets because everything could only be saved to the user bank, and the way that was set up made sound changing difficult during live gigs. Is this situation any better with the triton le?

Also, what price should I be paying for a triton le 76? this is the cheapest ive found it, due to the bonus items and free shipping http://www.musiciansbuy.com/KORG_TRITONLE76_W_FREE_ITEMS.html but I seem to recall that 1,250 pricepoint having been around for a while, and with oasys creeping up/or released, should I be expecting a price drop soon enough?? Also, I want to play it safe and have the korg warranty which only goes to the original owner, and not worry about getting screwed on ebay, so what would be the cheapest and safest outlet (such as website), any suggestions? thanks!

The LE has 3 banks X 128 locations for storing combis...
there are no blank spots , you must remap your 'board to make space...I did this by carefully choosing which combis I wanted to keep and then deleting the rest, then I copied all my presets to banks b & c, saving bank a for my own live performance menu.....First song of the night starts on bank a, combi 000 and by using a footswitch you can data increment through your combis in the order they are needed for the song. You need to set up your"live menu" like 1st song intro-combi 000, verse - 001, bridge - 002, chorus - 003, etc...now 000 and 002 may be the same sound, but the idea is to have all your sounds in the order used so you can step through them as the show progresses.....don't worry about running out of room, I mean, do you really need all those techno and hip hop combis anyway ? Get a flash card, save your setup so you dont lose it accidentally and also when you go to sell the board you can always re-initialize it back to factory presets for the next guy or gal....The LE is an okay board, great value for the money...my complaints after playing one for 2 years.....keyboard feel is very Plastic (cheap), my board has recently crashed , the pitch bender started freakin out, then I started getting ghost program changes, sticky buttons have become a problem too....I take care of my stuff, this is just due to usage and bottom line is, its wore out like an old car, time for a new one, so I got the Triton Extreme, what an amazing difference in the feel of the keys, the amount of ROM and available storage space and sampling....only a few $$ more than the LE and worth every bit of it....
Food for thought !!!

ok so I now have this board! So, I dont have a flash card and I have this gig on monday, so I don't have very much time to get one and read up on stuff. So is it to my understanding that any edits or combi deletions are permanent if saved, so that if I reinitialize I will not get things back to the factory settings? Basically all I really want are ten or so sounds that can I access within a few seconds, just programs, not combis. Although when I have the time I will obviously do a lot of editting, but the stock sounds are good enough for my time right now. So I would be cool if there was a way to not permanently rearrange the location of the sounds so that, for instance, bank a 001 is the first sound a want and bank 2-15 are other sounds I need. I have no changes so quick I wouldn't have time to punch in the number if it is in the same bank. In bank D, after the first 63 programs, there are a bunch of piano sounding (which I assume means blank) programs called "InitiProgramD" and then numbers 1-127. Could the purpose of these be to save other programs, with edits, closer together for easier access? thanks!

Yes you can re-initialize back to factory settings...
Yes, the initial program group in bank D is for precisely what your looking to do...
Be sure to set your sounds up in order and use the inc/dec buttons (instead of punching in the program #) if you dont have a foot pedal....
