I probably should have posted this on the original thread of Bob's passing, but
I'm still a bit in shock over both hearing that Bob Moog had become ill seemingly so quickly and then that he had passed.
Though I never got to meet him, I studied in the Audio Tech program at American U. and we had a Moog modular in our synth studio. Story floating around the department was that Bob Moog had hand delivered the thing in a station wagon and then a small crane had to be used to lower the large pieces into the basement of the McKinnely building. Apparently he got quite a kick out of that episode since it wasn't a "standard loadin".
But seriously, I'm glad he gave us the technology to build on what we have today in the world of electronic music.
Look at how far we've come. To be able to go out and do the things we do as musicians with the technology available to us is amazing, and largely to Moog's credit.
