I mostly play cover music, especially Pop and Rock. I need good piano sounds, good orchestral sounds and of course excellent synth sounds .
I just need a very good set of sounds (organ sounds are also important)
I'd like to have very good presets, because I do not have much time to edit and program them by myself.

Seeing your going more towards presets vs samples check out the Roland XV3080 or XV5050.
Both racks have a great collection of presets and they've been out for a while so you should be able to get good deals on them.

If you're a presets player, be sure that you do NOT buy a Kurzweil. I agree with Shreddy, because Roland has got in my opinion the best presets out there!

Yamaha's have good presets too but I think a Motif rack would be out of the price range.
Korg also has good but I find the pianos somewhat lacking and if thats one of the main tones your looking for dont go that route.

Hey, I TOTALLY disagree. When you buy a Kurz it comes
with a huge soundset collection. From analog synths to
orch sounds (which happen to be freaking phenomenal)
you've got every base covered in the preset department.

Well.. only presets actually. I'll be ever in disagree about that. True, I can get a realistic piano sound, a great organ or beautiful strings but... what are my possibilties? I think that, before buying such type of product, we must achieve much info as possibile about timbric possibilities of a particular device.. then decide.
Perhaps Kurzweil keyboards doesn't have the better presets sounds on the market, but there is a reason if they cost so much... this reason is their timbric possibilities that are defined, by popular instruments magazines, quite illimitate.

Wait to check the new Fantom XR, in only 1U rack there's the entire new engine sounds of the Fantom X, usb port, 16 MB of sample memory, no ugly wall-warts and still space for sample memory and SRX expansion Boards.

I second the Fantom XR, it looks sexy and has some nice features, and I'm sure the sounds won't disappoint.

I third the Fantom XR. It has some of the best samples in rom of all the synths, including an absolutely huge new piano with I think every KEY multisampled. It's supposed to be amazing. Along with the fact that you have full 128 note polyphony with four layers going, the sound power is absolutely huge, and it has room for six of those incredible SRX expansion boards. Not to mention, the synth engine and effects are fantastic, almost as good as the Kurzweil.

Simply not true.
I have and use many Kurzweil presets.
For the price range quoted I would have to agree with the XV-5050.
I want to get one to replace my jv1080 :P
To me there's no Kurz vs. Roland camp. I like using both together. If I had a Korg I'd add that to the equation.
I gotta look up this Fantom XR :D
