Very simple. I want to have cool patches an stuff, but I want also to have 88 keys. Well the patch problem is easy to solve. There this one thing. Does the Kurzweil PC2X have the same Piano sound as the Stereo Piano Rom, for the 2500 and 2600? Of not, can it be build in?

PC2X has the Triple Strike Piano (ROM3) of the Kurzweil K2600 series. This one is very subtle to play, I was positively surprised by its sound when I received the ROMs one week ago. On the K2600 series, it also has a KDFX effect which tries to emulate string resonance; as PC2X contains a reduced KDFX engine, I guess that this effect may also be there.
Anyways, with the PC2X, you won't do any mistake, its sounds are great and can be easily complemented by a rack, e.g. a MOTIF ES rack.

Haha, Thank you georges, a rack :P. But eh, It is more a workstation than a stage piano, right?

The PC2X is a glorified MIDI controller that just happens to have some superb sounds included. It sits somewhere in the middle ground/no man's land between a stage piano and a performance keyboard (such as the Alesis QS6.1, in terms of features). If you want a keyboard with flexible programmable sounds, look elsewhere. As is standard with Kurzweil, you pay more to get less. :P

Hehe, Well The Piano ROM 3 board, sounds cool! I just want a 88-key controller for a triton rack or so. Kurzweil is one brand to show-off :D. So any special features on teh PC2X is ''extra'' :P .

If you need a real good controller maybe Doepfers LMK Series may be for you. No sounds, but superb keyboard and control functions, and built in a flightcase!

A flightcase? sounds good! But then there's this little question. On Kurweil's website they say that there is room for a '' Long ribbon controller'' 600 mm I thought it was. Can those be bought today?

I think it's for the expression mate. Can be placed on the Doepfer too!

Doepfer uses better keys than Kurzweil.

Cool boards! But can that ''expression mate'' still be puchased?

It's not produced anymore. But maybe you have luck on ebay.

Scrap, our local Guitar Center just sold a floor model
of the Karma for $999.00
Talk about bang for your buck there it is.
Also, Sam Ash was blowing out their original
Fantom for the same price.

Geez, guys, I think you do not know about what you are talking. To make something clear: ExpressionMate is no more available as it seems, HOWEVER, the big ribbon for PC2X should still be available as it is an option of the PC2X.
Next, as for the sound of the PC2X: one cannot really say that it is only a masterkeyboard with sounds, that applies for the SP series, not so for the PC2 series, which has KB3 mode, KDFX (reduced) and ROM samples of the K2600, plus editing possibilities for sounds. So, all in all, it IS a stagepiano with an army of masterkeyboard possibilities; also note that it is really used by lots of professional keyboard players.

Hi Georges!
Thanks for the info, I always thought it would be for the Ribbon of the Expression Mate!

Hmm, I must get my hands on such a Ribbon.
But I've learned that the Pc2x is far more expanded than a SP board. But I think I'd be better off buying a Pc1X. I know that there is not Kb-3 in it. But it does have the triple strike piano ROM?

Don't the PC1X too much. Of course, PC2X is midiwise more advanced than SP, even SP offers lots of midi functionality for the small price it charges. Therefore, if you are looking for MIDI masterkeyboard with not many controller features, SP may be right for you. PC2 allows for lots of real control (faders, pedals, buttons, etc.) ...

I use the SP88X purely as a MIDI controller. For its price, it is versatile, and I very much enjoy the Fatar key action on the X model. My only complaint about it is that there is no key aftertouch, which many of my custom patches use. It also has 2 assignable ribbon controllers.

Hmm, well I've talked about my ''needs'' with Alberto and Dave. And we come to the conclusion that the Pc1X is best for me. I have the beautiful piano samples, aswell as other great patches. There are 64 setups progra'mmed, 64, polyphony. There is a KDFX version in it, orchestral ROM, all for the price of 1.200 US dollars. Not much!

It also has 2 assignable ribbon controllers.
Even 3. The 2nd ribbon can be split into 2 independent ribbon controllers.
Congrats for your choice, RC. It's certainly a good one and a bargain as well.
