I do not own it, but i played alot on it in the music store i work in. The Organ sounds very similar to the VK8. I believe the technology even is the same compared to the VK8 except some fx or something...

It is mainly a very in good Organ-Piano-Synth. The piano sounds a little thin, but fits very well in complete bandsound. The synthsounds are not very diverse. But they include very usefull strings, brass, choirs, synth sounds, and leads.

I was amazed by the sounds when Neal used the board on his Testimony gig as his only (!) keyboard. Though our beloved Bert was backing him up with a Triton (sample loaded) and a VK7 or 8.

Nope,

unfortunately no mellotrons in there....You have to use an external module or sampler for that.

Hi,

the VK8M sounds great! I really love the overdrive's on it. It has different types of amp simulations suitable for just clean organ, or very overdriven "Deep Purple" sounds. The leslie also sounds great.

You can connect the module to any keyboard that has a midi-output...though you might want to take into consideration that when you really want to use organ technique, you need a keyboard that feels a little like an organ. So a non-weighted keyboard would be better. Try doing organ slides on weighted keys...not very pleasant :).
