Hey. i have a Roland RD700, and i may be getting a new keyboard soon. I like the Motif allot and can see it is muchos more advanced than my RD700. how much more am i getting besides the good presets i hear about frequently? i guess i should check it out at the store, but i figured id ask yall too cuz u seem to know what your talking about. i read of kurzweil that its a good buy becuase their keyboards rarely get outdated, and u just update software. is it the same with this Motif? Does anyone thinik it will be outdated soon? or is it a good buy that will last me for a long time.

And also, is there any kind of way to get more sounds if nessesary on this thing? im not too too familiar with the way the system works, but i know there is a way usually. im gonna check out all the capabilities of the synthesizer at the store, but would like to hear your comments if u have likes and dislikes to share of the motif. there may have been other posts similar to this, but i couldnt find them. sorry if this is a repeated topic of some sort. thanks for the advice!

There are some serious differences between the RD700 and a Motif.

First off your RD700 is a stage piano not a workstation like the Motif. Its like comparing a Cadillac to a Corvette, both are good but both are very different. You might want to read some of the FAQs and see what the differences are between types of boards.

The Motif was recently updated to the Motif ES. You have a stage piano which actually would act like a pretty decent controller. If your looking to add more options to your sound you could go the route of using a Rack Module Motif, Kurz, Korg etc..

ok, im a little bit of a newbie to the modern keyboard jargon, but what did it mean by its a 'controller' and how exactly do racks work, i have a good idea but am not sure.
