So I got two Dream THeater boots for my birthday - Images and Words Demos and The Scenes From A Memory Session Outtakes/alternate mix bootlegs, and all I can say is how awesome this is.

The alternate version of ACOS that they had working on back in 89 is pretty incredible...it's SO different - including all the vocal melodies and lyrics and everything...it's interesting to hear the demos of the three other singers that may have been part of Dream Theater, but then also refreshing when on Disc 2 you hear the songs with James on them...I'm glad they chose him.

The SFAM bootleg is really awesome. Its cool to hear them run through songs the first time and I think the highlight is when Petrucci sings part of the melody to "A Spirit Carries On" (I Think he was making a demo for James to hear how he wanted the melody to go on the song)...it's to die for, because it's just horrible, but so funny at the same time...the alternate mixing is also very cool.

Anyone else own any of the bootlegs ?

I'm not sure because I haven't heard it yet... but I'm pretty sure vocals on ACoS were done by Kevin

Where do you get those? As far as I know bootlegs aren't officially sold (althought they're not illegal), or am I wrong?

yeah, ive heard some SFAM "official" bootleggs, and they are pretty cool to listen to. different ideas for different mixes are neat to hear.

Yeah you can go on www.ytsejamrecords.com to buy the bootlegs.
And I have SFAM making of, and wow! Its really nice! We can hear when they was recording the album for each songs and how it was. And the alternates mixes are really nice too. Some songs are very different and I think that I prefer some versions on this CD.

I also got the "scenees from a memory bootleg. Its great. There are also other things such as alternate lyrics for finally free. What I liked the most from the cd was besides JP singing the spirit carries on, all the stuff that was deleted from The dance of eternity.

I also have other bootlegs that I could even share with some of u if ur intersted. I have the ATCO demos, I also have the Graspop Festival from 2002 I think am not sure I dont have the cd on sight... And I have another cool live recopilation were u can hear "alternate lyrics" for many songs, such as "pull my finger , pull my finger, pull my finger am gonna fart" istead of the pull me under chorus... Its really funny.

I loved the JR solo in the SFAM bootleg in Strange Deja Vu.
