asigning slider to balance on K2500

ive been trying to get my second slider to adjust the balance (as in switching from right speaker to left), but i have not been able to get it to work, i assigned it to 'Balance' and made my lead stereo,(which i dont know that it makes any difference), any help would be appreciated.

Are you sending the sound through a stereo EFX? Does the balance slider start functioning better when you bypass EFX?

it doesnt work at all efx or no as far as i have tried, is there a definite way that anybody knows of that will utilize the balance function.
