I don't know which is *better*, par se... I see the Korg being played by more professional musicians, if that's a help.... it's also slightly cheaper in UK shops, and slightly smaller and more portable. It's the one I would choose, personally, if I was in the market for another organ.

I'd choose the Korg too, even though I'm a Roland afficionado. Most comparisons I've read have rated the Korg higher.

The new VK's are much improved. But I'd give the nod to the Korg. The overdrive seems more musical for rock applications (Emerson Wakeman, Medeski). The Rolands are up there for the glisteny Jimmy Smith/Joey DeFrancesco types of things, though.

Yes I know Medeski is not a rock player, but he overdrives his tubes like the best of them.

Cheers,

Jerry

Here's a bunch of reviews of the CX-3 by
a forum of actual users and owners of the beast.

You can get drawbar leak sound from Korg.

How cool is that?!? Some VA organs even go so far
as to make their sounds less than pefect by adding
buzzing to achieve that truly convincing tone.

The VK-8 module is very good, and if you get one you won't miss the Korg. I'm intending to get the VK-8M myself this year sometime. The differences between the Korg and Roland are small enough that you can't go wrong with either one. On a recording or in a performance no one will care.
