Dude, I really dig your lead tone! And the chord progressions were cool! I liked the song quite a bit! The drums could maby sound a bit more "real". But then again, that's the problem we all have isn't it? Damn drums...

Ah yes, the drums weren't messed with much at all. I didn't bother doing too much fancy stuff with them, I just made a basic midi track and imported it to my drum machine program. This is actually just a demo recording that I made so I could enter the "share your music" contest on the Holdsworth forum before the deadline came (tomorrow...and I work all day). I've got enough material that I'm going to start working on a solo fusion album at some point, and I'm gonna be real anal with the drums then. For right now, they're just tossed in there to provide the right time feel.

Very nice man. Awesome bass programming, GREAT lead tone. Sounds like Jens but a little cleaned up. Very appropriate for this genre. Good at it. What kind of synth did you use for the backup portamento saw lead? It sounds really nice.

Listening now - very nice. I think from a musical standpoint, it's VERY good. From a production view, I think you might have overpanned the leads a bit, but that's personal preference.
Was the bass a VST or live?

Ah, more great music.
I'm guessing he recorded the bass live, and as far as I know, he's using the Roland JD-800 for almost all of his sounds nowadays.

Bass was a real bass, me playing it. The keyboards used were a Casio WK3500 for all the backing chords, and a Roland JD-800 for the leads (Jensish one and the detuned saw). I think the leads were panned a little too much as well, and the Jensy one could have been a bit quieter....but this is just a demo recording.
Thanks for the comments guys. :)

This is pretty cool! I might be not the best person to comment on this since i don't listen to Holdsworth :) But i like the intro's chord progression. All the breaks are cool as well. I'm still trying to enjoy the verse bits... I think when you finish this it's gonna be a cool song. (with complete instrument). Good job! Lead patch is cool... everybody else's saying it reminds them of Jens, but to me it reminds me of Matt Guillory's lead sound :)
