They were recently voted #1 in this
SPIN magazine poll.

I like them alot and even have OK Computer
and also know that DT has been greatly
influenced by them, but I can think of others
equally deserving of the spot.

I never thought these kind of polls made any sense. It's so subjective. I remember when they voted for the best song of the past century and stairway to heaven fell into something like 12th place. I couldn't beliebe it. Or shine on you crazy diamond on something like 20th. I got quite mad at first but then relaxed, played "Wish you Were Here" on the CD player and thought "hey, who gives a shit 'bout a lame ass poll?".

BTW I love Radiohead. It's one of my favourite bands, I have all their records and have seen them twice live. Still, saying that OK computer is the best of the past 20 years... Come on!! Nobody can say that about any record out there! There's just too much good music going on!

I saw them open for Alanis Morrisette several years ago.
They were without a doubt one of the tightest sounding bands I have ever heard. Never heard a band land their endings so perfectly. No missed notes or clams from what I could hear. Rhythm section nailed it !

They are idividually really good musicians. Just ilsten to the way they can nail really complicated rythmical passages like Pyramid Song. And, in my opinion, Paranoid Android is an example of compositional mastery. And their sense of melody is amazing (Exit Music, or How to Dissappear Completely). All in all, a really good band. But the best of the past 20 years? Hmmm...

I totally agree, Chris. They played Grant Park here
in Chicago to what I believe was about 100,000 people.
I left that concert a few years ago converted. Praise be
the Lord ladies and gentlemen.

Honestly, those guys have soooo much soul and yes
they were very tight. I would have loved to own
a DVD of that evening's concert. Anyone know of
where I can get a live performance of RH on DVD?

I think U2 is waaayy more overated than Radiohead for example, basically because they've gotten bigger, which gives the media an excuse to further lick their butt.

You get big and earn loads of money ----> media licks your butt ----> you get overated.

BTW, I love U2 as well. I'm just saying it's overated :)

U2 Story.

U2 announced their tour a while ago and excluded Ottawa. The Canadian Prime Minister phoned up Bono and pleaded with him to play Ottawa... So they are...

Sheesh

OK Comp is really very good, but i couldn't say its the best album of the last 20 years. No way.

I also think U2 are quite cool, but their songs are pretty much all the same (check out their bass lines - all 8th notes, nothing exciting).
