If an opportunity like this came up, where you had to get it on with
your favorite band's management to get the keyboardist slot,
would you do it?
Kinda gives new meaning to making beautiful music together.

I dont know, from what I can gather from the article and a quick visit to her site, she probably didnt NEED to sleep with anyone to get the job, but she just did anyway because honestly, she sounds like kind of a slut! I mean, when youre a soloist in a major musical production, you have to at least have some reasonable amount of talent and skill, not like you can just sleep with someone and get the job even if you can't play.

There are thousands of virtuosos out there of equal skill, all of which are looking for the same job. You need to do something to set yourself apart from the others, thus...
Well.... if her thinking is flat enough to be proud of playing and making career only because she's able to f*ck, there she goes. And if the others let her play to get some good nights... alright then. I don't think that's anything to be proud of and write a book about it.
Luckily there are not that much good keyboardists (compared to the number of good classical musicians) :-)

Well being an oboist as well as a keyboardist, I must say that she seemed to have good taste. Besides, we live in a society that tosses around sex as a meaningless and simply fun activity. If you ask me, this is no different then someone playing squash or golf with someone regularly to build a friendship and then get offered the job. It should be a lot different, but unfortunately, in today's (at least public media's) view, it is not.
CAUTION: INNUENDO AHEAD!
I've always wondered...as a pianist and an oboist, my two most skilled attributes are my fingers and my lips...you'd think I'd have a girlfriend

I can believe people would go to extremes to land a classical gig. They are hard to come by. Back when I was studying trombone at Interlochen, I was told that you pretty much have to wait for someone to die before a spot becomes available in most major Orchestras, and then you'd stand in line behind 450 or more people for an audition, only to find out later that the person who landed the job was a friend of a friend....:)

You have to be a subscriber to see that one. That's old news anyway though, CBS or NBC, can't remember which one, ran a story on that during the time frame of American Idol's top 12.

I was able to get to it by clicking on the "fan" link on the comcast site, then doing a search on Corrie Clark. No login required (I'm at the office).

I have this book and read about 100 pages or so, hoping it would get better and more insightful but it didn't so I stopped (i got it as a gift). It was just trash, using sex to sell a book. Basically she just seemed like a slut, before she even started getting breaks. In highschool she was having sex with her music teachers for christ sakes, and lost her virginity at 15 to some guy who ditched her a week later. Either that is bs or she has a hallow case to go by. sounds like sensationalistic journalism with no other value that selling books. this is nothing new with any field, so much talent of equal levels, you have to have some reason to choose one over the other.
certainly it sucks the sexism involved in performance music, but it is a privledge to have that kind of career, not a right
