Heres something i had to work on for a school assessment.
It started out as a midi composition but i slowly added all the real elements, leaving only the drums as midi. The keys parts are midi triggered, and i hooked it up through pro-tools' sample tank for some decent sounds.

Its basically a collection of riffs with little to no continuity, lol. my excuse is that its an 'overture' of sorts. The mix isnt great but its awesome quality for someone like me who basically cant record anything half-decent sounding at home.

The first version of this included no vocals, but my teacher insisted on some so i got some other student to sing something quick for me :p

alot of it is guitar oriented, but there is a keys solo near the end :)

(oh, and alot of you may notice the (not so) subtle DT & TA references in some of the themes... let me know if you pick any up!)

i encourage criticism! flame away:

Sounds cool. Drums are wicked. Did you program them? Lots of really cool phrasings and time changes. Some of it actually sounds like it was done on guitar - the slides are properly chromatic like they should be on a guitar. The only thing i can suggest is perhaps getting your guitarist (or make a patch on your board, i couldn't tell how it was done) to do some palm muting so it sounds morem metalish. I like the keys at the end, but i think the guitars bring this track down.

thanks for your feedback!

The drums were all programmed, the guitars and bass were recorded.

Im not really a guitarist, so you can see why there are a few faults with my playing :p

oh well, i tried :D

That is really cool. The only (minor) thing I found was around 1:44 that transition seemed a bit sudden but then again thats probably just me.
Thats a really good peice of work though!
