Hi everyone!
You might think I'm silly but I think this would be interesting. Simply let's see who's the fastest to get chromatically from A0-C8 on a keyboard equipped with 88 Hammer Graded Keys or a piano/grand piano. Im not doing because i think speed is most imprtant or something like that i only like to be amazed and i think that sick speed is cool but not everything so let's not take this to serious because it's just a ridicolus funny thing. Now Shoot!!!!

Oh man. If only I had an 88-key controller. I'd so be in.

Sounds fun; let's hear those runs :D

I don't have an 88 key controller, or else I would do it.

Someone posted a thread awhile back on the older version of the forum about how fast everybody could do a chromatic scale...it was all honor system though, no recordings (I think bakerman did one though). I tried it on my piano and was right around 9-10 seconds...but that was only like 1 out of every 5 tries because I'm bound to screw up at some point when going that fast. :p It's been awhile since that, and I actually tried with a metronome not too long ago and was doing 16ths at 150bpm consistently. 88 notes would come out to 22 beats...so 22/150 of a minute. *calculator* that makes .1466667 --- that times 60 is 8.8...so still about 9 seconds, only now I don't f*ck it up every single time. :p

Left Handed? Right Handed? Ascending? Descending? And do you want video's or Mp3? Be more specific! lol

Oh shit, I should try my left hand. It'd probably take me like 30 seconds, lol.

30? I thought that hand could play the Revolutionary Etude? ;)

HA. I'd like to see a video of that!

The problem with chromatics on my left hand is mainly this: how often do I come across a situation where I must play a chromatic on my left hand? Hmmm... Not very ften at all!! So my left hand sucks at chromatics...

Heh, yeah I have the same problem as Lurion. There's no reason for my left hand to be trained in chromatics (at this point in time)...other than bragging rights. You know, ktriton, I really should get some videos of me doing classical stuff. I'm gonna have my senior recital probably March of '06...if you can wait until then, I'll upload a video of that and you can see all the classical peices that I know.

Dude, March of 06 is 9 months away, we need at least a teaser before then. :P

I'll take a video of the 1st minute of the Revolutionary Etude. :)

Hear, hear! If you can do the revolutionary etude UP TO SPEED, you are automatically awesome in my book.

Up to speed?! Do you think I'm freaking Jordan Rudess? :p

It's written to be played at 144 bpm, but I do it around 120. The first page or so (until it ventures away from that main theme) and on a little further is doable at that speed. It's all the middle stuff that's impossible to play at such an extreme velocity.

Hmm...I'll have to see about getting videos of stuff...I don't have a webcam or anything, so other alternatives must be explored. Another thread, another time. Enough hijacking. ;)

Doesn't matter. Do whatever you want. (Although I guess the most of you will do it righthanded descending. Or will you?)

It's 144 bpm!? Did Rudess play it that fast on Steinway to Heaven? I could've sworn it was around 120. Either way, it's still kickass that you can play it.

(Now play "Interstices" ;))

I think he is playing it a little slower then the original. The original version is about 2:10 in lenght, while Rudess' version on STH is about 2:35. So if Rudess plays it at 120, the original would be arround 143 :D

Btw, here is my best attempt at the scale :D I kinda suck at bigger speeds - I have no good control over volume or tempo :) Go to http://spion.i8.com/ and click on the only link available (Scale) to hear it :D

If I was unfair, I would turn on the glissando option of my synth, hit A0 and C8 and make an MP3 of it. :)
I'm not that good in that, so I don't participate, but don't trust anyone who hasn't posted a video  .

My old, ancient OmniVision PC Camera (eye-form camera) is broken and wont work with the old 98 drivers - and I cant find new drivers. In a month or so I'll be getting a new one so I will post stuff and stuff. :D
